Want to build an HTPC - Need help.

Does anyone know if a 4870 / 280 is short enough to fit in a Lc-17 without removing the middle drive cage? I realise that the 8800gtx etc were too long but wondering if the newer cards are any shorter?

James.Miller- Am I right in thinking you've now got a bluray laptop and ps3 AND bluray pc drive? You must like your hi-def!

I've decided to just turn the computer am on right now and turn it into an HTPC and use my old PC. These days I hardly play pc games and watch more movies or play my PS3 on my big screen.

My old PC will just be for web browsing, I'd like to upgrade the CPU and add more ram however to it.

My current system am on right now.

Ultima OC HD 3870 X2" Intel Core 2 DUO E8400 3.00GHz @ E8800+ 3.66GHz Dual Core DDR2 System 8800GTX

I'll be taking my old alienware and moving all the parts into the antec, and taking the antec parts and putting them into the antec fusion HTPC.

I also have an old windows ME pc that I got in 2001 that I could do something with. It can run games like RTCW maxed out.

Thoughts? :)

lol, yes i do. and yes i do :D

i also have an lc17 with an 8800gtx in it;) great choise for gaming, terrible choice if your consious of power draw :p

i didnt really intend to buy a laptop to play bluray, but this does so very well. its not as quick or fuss-free as my ps3 but ther are benifits. the drive in this laptop is also a dual layer bluray writer, which will come in handy and was one of the main reasons for choosing it :)
