Want to clarify something with the mods please :)

OK so I'm assuming that covers direct advertising but can you be a bit more explicit on the instances where someone says "I'm looking for a wedding photographer" and someone will either reply "Use so and so...." (impersonal) or "I'm available....." (personal). The former could then be biased to photographers who use this forum but can't be mentioned hence someone else gets the job. The only fair solution I see is to stop the threads of "Spec me a Photographer.." ;)
 
Although this matter has been settled now, thanks for bringing this to our attention Phate. As you said it has almost certainly saved someone an unexpected holiday.

And now the Mods have had their annual visit to Photo then can now move on to the rabble that is the rest of the forum and leave us in peace ;)
 
Better change that sig Phate!

Why you had to bring up people linking their business/gallery (usually the same site) in their signatures is anyones guess :p

I had three business/commercial sites in my sig for a good 6 months and nobody said anything. I removed them myself as I didn't want my personal ramblings/thoughts to be taken as that of the company.

Also, what's the rulings on other people recommending your services? Is that allowed or not? This thread for example, $loth very kindly recommends me. Should I then sit back and not reply/post a link to my site, or at that point am I allowed to? What if $loth just linked to my site in his original post?

I'm not trying to be facetious, but I don't really see the difference between linking to your own site or someone else's when the OP is genuinely looking for help with a service.

I think there may have been a bit of confusion on policy which has been since cleared up by Spie.

As long as you don't offer services or link to your site, I don't see an issue with other people recommend you as long as you don't do it yourself.
