Want to connect 3 screens to a single computer: how?

I currently have an Nvidia 7900GS (PCI-E). It comes with 2 DVI outputs and 1 S-video output.

I currently have the following setup:

DVI 1 -> monitor
DVI 2 -> HD Projector.

I intend to add a TV screen, which will have a DVI or HDMI input. I wish to connect this TV to the computer, however, I dont have any more DVI outputs.

So, what do I need to add this extra DVI output?

My motherboard is the Asus P5B Deluxe, which has a single PCI-E slot (which is used by the 7900GS).

Are the PCI video cards difficult to come by these days?

Ive just checked OCUK website and cant find any. :(

another graphics card compatible with the first, make them sli / crossfire type cards and you can kill two birds with one stone.
Serious game performance when in crossfirre / sli
Up to four DVI outputs.
Obviously you'd need another M/b to do this though, so would be the expensive way round the issue.

I thought you could only output to one screen with SLi or did they fix that?

Not sure about Crossfire, though, so that could be a solution, I know their Gemini cards have 4 DVI ports. Those're mid-range crossfire on a stick.

My twin 1950's are currently outputting to at least three monitors as I type, so I know that works as I said originally, however I will admit I "assumed" Nvidia cards when twinned up worked the same way

This would be very expensive and would imply a complete overhaul. I watercool my video card, so 2 waterblocks would be required.

Probably the best PCI card on the market at the moment is the X1550 PCI edition.

Closely followed by the 6200 and X1300.

Club-3D GeForce 6200 nVidia NV44 128MB PCI DVI/VGA Graphics Card

This would cost me about £30, so looks like an option. However, I would then have 2 NVidia video cards. Someone else said it would better to have 1 nvidia and 1 ati card.

The x1300 has a fan on it, which would mean it would add noise. The above nvidia card has no fan, so will not add any noise.

There are no issues in having two cards from one manufacturer. In fact right now I have my 8800GTS 512MB in one PCI-E slot and my old 7800GT in the other! No explosions yet!

Even so, I'd have a look on that popular auction site. More or less any PCI card will do and I'm sure you could get one for a lot less than £30! Or maybe ask in the wanted section here on these forums, someone might be willing to send you one for next to nothing or even free :)

I like this idea.

What about using a DVI splitter cable? This would be cheaper and would allow me to save a PCI slot.

What if I bought a splitter cable:

1 DVI (male) - 1 DVI (female).

Would this work?

Yes, would copy the image I think, if you used it for the projector and TV you would probably be ok. it is unlikely you are going to watch seperate stuff on them both at the same time.
