Want to connect 3 screens to a single computer: how?

This will just copy the screen of the one you've got on the cable so mirroring.

Yes, would copy the image I think, if you used it for the projector and TV you would probably be ok. it is unlikely you are going to watch seperate stuff on them both at the same time.

This is what I was thinking. I would never be running both the TV and PJ at the same time or attempting to display different things. However, I have ready many stories that people used these splitter cables and the video cards were unable to detect any devices and hence unable to display any images on them.

The card doesn't have to detect anything in order to output a signal via the DVI ports. You might have to force it to the resolution you are after, but apart from that it should work as normal. :)

Hmmm.

Well my projector has a DVI port and inorder to output to it, it first has to be detected. After this, in the display properties, I have to specifiy 'Sony Monitor + Panasonic Projector'. After this is done, the blank screen that was being displayed on the projector, starts to display images.

Without this detection process, the computer doesnt display on the PJ. The 'S-Video Out' always seems to be working though, as my CRT doesnt require detection.
