want to get into 3d modelling

my younger brother wants to learn how to model for a future in video games, and as a older brother i guess its my job to help :confused: .

So any ideas on for him as to where to start, any useful programs that will help him learn. Price aint really a issue.

As for for your questions, his 14 and yes he does want to animate the models as well :)

£2,225 for 3ds max :eek: jeebus save my bank account, but if he really gets in to 3d modelling....guess i have to cough up for it :(

I've got aother questions, theres many tutorials poping up on google. Is there a website that could be recomended, also someone told me theres a free version of maya would that be a good program to learn from?
 
yeah he is going to to university but he hasnt decided yet on how to get there or what course his planning to take, he is on his pc atm looking what will be the best path for him (as i have absolutely no idea in this area :D ).


So do you think blender + a bit of maya till he gets his bearings then on to 3ds max or would you recommend another program inbetween?
