Want to get into Computer Building or Maintaince as a career and work for a company like OCUK. Need

So many kids are like this, I admit I was like it as well. You enjoyed building your custom PC and believe it's a skilled job as any normal person would think that it's hard. In reality it's easier than a 10 piece jigsaw, it's unskilled work. Doing this for 40 hours every week would become mind-numbing. Best to become skilled in a language, software development is a much better route to go down.

Hey, if anybody knows of a place offering such incredibly boring work and allows you to work just weekends then you know where my trust is. It seems more appealing than the only other jobs I could apply for around here which seem to involve knocking on random people's doors advertising charities that I don't particularly care about, which I can only imagine is humiliating every single time.

I first started off doing this about 12 years ago working for "Time Computers", i earnt £3.50 an hour if i remember correctly whist at college, now work in networking for the NHS and provide support to a few local businesses and home users.

I'm a web developer for my 9-5 job - where I work I've built the last 7 PC's (including my own, lol) and do all upgrades etc to save money (guess they put '...and any other duties etc' in your contract nfor a reason :) ).

First build was ok - something a little different for a Monday morning. By the 3rd PC I was in tears. Soooo boring - kudos to people who built these things all day long.

ask around some local computer shops, pc repair and building pcs to spec can be a bit more rewarding but still not massive money involved, i started 12 years ago for a small company building computer for government agency then i started building and configuring most of the computer for a company called special reserve and finally went on to supervising a group of technicians in an IT insurance claims department where we got to build/ repair/configure and fault find a wide range of computers and laptops, this was rewarding work but even in a supervisors position i was on 17k and the technicians were on around 12 - 14k as stated.

Remember though it is not all about the money at first esspecially when you have no experience, dont expect to walk in the dream job earning loads of money as thats just not how real life goes im affraid (although i wish it did).
