Want to get my first Macbook but lost

I was referring to what Apple call the Pro 13", which, in terms of screen, is just brighter - couldn't find any reviews saying it was better in other ways (same colour profiles, etc.).

The 14" and 16" do, however, have better screens, better specs, more ports, etc. so don't think you're getting that on the 13" model.

I read somewhere the 13” pro has a higher colour range screen, as measured with a colour calibrator, not just what people ‘can tell’.

Could be wrong but swear i read it somewhere, the air is still a great screen, a very good one, but RGB/P3/ARGB is a wider range on pro 13, of course the 14 is even better now.

Could very well be the case. I assume there are some fundamental differences that allow the additional brightness; just wasn’t able to find anything in a review.

The one problem I see is that if you spec it for more than just basic tasks (16GB RAM and 512GB), then you’re £200 away from the base 14”, which has the same memory and storage but better everything else.

One thing to try out if you're in a position where you're ready to buy and you work for a large-ish firm.

Bring along proof of your job and ask about Corporate Discount. You might be able to knock a couple of % off the price and 10% off any accessories you need for it.

They'll punch in your company name and if they can find it then boom, happy discount days.

Macrumors are suggesting that the refreshed Air may only be out in September. That’s a long time to wait.

Rumours are coming like crazy. Latest is that a minor refresh of the 13-inch MBP with M2 comes next month, then redesigned Air with M2 later in the year. I don't recommend buying a mac until the March event, at least to see what's out there. Maybe if we don't get a new MBA and the 13-inch MBP is refreshed the current MBP/MBAs with M1 get a good sale or price drop.
