Hey guys.

I've currently got a Intel Celeron D 2.93GHz *thing* is it a processor?

Its not playing my games to well (as everyone is saying :p)

And i want to buy a new more powerfuler *thing*

Please could you reccomend me something thats isnt to costly, and something that will play games well... I hear AMD's are good?

Also, if i did buy a new *thing* will i need to buy new memory, and new GFX card and stuff?

Sorry, i couldnt be more specific, i dont know what im on about!

Thanks in advance.

How do you have that many posts and not know what you're talking about?

Research to be honest - there's far too much to tell you.

What it sounds like you need is a different CPU, Mobo and Graphics card. To play games (You'll need to specify which ones really) like Oblivion on medium/high settings that's going to cost about £400, depending if you have enough RAM already.

Yes, you'd need a new mobo for sure. Post your entire system spec as it's likely you don't have enough RAM or an old graphics card. Really if you can't afford a whole new CPU+mobo etc you should just upgrade to 2gb RAM and a decent AGP (Could be a pci-e for that celeron, not sure) graphics card. That wont cost you too much but'll see you through most games - CPU's don't make too much of a difference if you have tiny amounts of ram and low graphical oomph.

Oh and that cpu - you might as well just stick with the Celeron.

Oh dear, you again, breaking rules...again.

Rules Regarding Competitors

I suggest you give the forum rules a good read, but to save you some time I have linked the rules regarding the mentioning of competitors and auction sites here for you.

Thankyou very much for linking me the forum rules. Thanks!

I have time to sit and read through them, thanks a lot. I cant thank you enough.

Fair enough then, but you will very likely get another ban if you continue to break rules, rules you need not break because they are all there in writing for you.

I can't believe you haven't taken the chance to remove that link, oh well I guess I'll report it now then, I didn't initially as I thought you might take the opportunity to sort it out yourself once informed of the rules.

The ASROCK Dual SATA 2 motherboard is a good choice as it natively supports AGP & PCI-E. This means that you can use your existing AGP card and easily upgrade to PCI-E in the future

Do you have DDR or DDR2 memory? If it's the former then it'll work with an A64, if it's DDR2 memory then it won't (until the AM2 arrives in May/June)

If it's the former then I'd buy the ASROCK motherboard and an A64 3000+ or 3200+. You'll notice a large boost in performance and it'll be a great gaming PC

Well he is only helping out, and I guess you don't want to be suspended again.

What is your actual budget / maximum? As by the way you've described your financial situation to me, you could barely afford your last upgrade.

Personally, I'd wait and try and get more out of your graphics card, unless you can get a more powerful Pentium 4 onto your motherboard, you'll be spending far too much money, as a worthwhile, more futureproof AMD upgrade would require a new graphics card, and a new motherboard.

Cheeky **** tbh. This kid said he'd "bang me out" because I wouldn't buy his TFT, I was trembling in my boots! :D

Internet gangsters these days..
