Cheeky **** tbh. This kid said he'd "bang me out" because I wouldn't buy his TFT, I was trembling in my boots! :D

Internet gangsters these days..

I blocked him on MSN now, as he was so incredibly rude to me after his last ban, and I was must have gave him a few hours helping him before.

If I see this attitude again, then you will get suspended. The guy was trying to do you a favour ffs.

the 6800 is still a pretty decent card, especially at 16pipes.
get an asrock 939 dual, hitachi sata2 hard disc and a 939 cpu, like a opteron 146 or a 3700+. you can use most of your existing stuff then.

Cheapest route is to either scrap the Celeron and replace with a P4 depending upon what your board will accept or overclock the hell out of the Celeron. Arent some of those Celerons highly overclockable ?

If its a prebuilt system from one of the usual suspects, you may find a mobo swap a bit more difficult than you imagine, and not to mention that the case and power supply may be non generic as well. In fact if you go the AMD route you may have to replace everything other than the HD, Memory, Optical Drive(s) and VGA Card.

AMD64 3000+ and 3200+ can be clocked to 2.4Ghz easy and if you get a good chip you may even hit 2.6 to 2.7Ghz. I got my 3200 to boot at 2.8Ghz but I couldn't get it stable so I'm running dandy at 2.7Ghz with the retail heatsink and fan.

These chips are also cheap as chips. :D

AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Venice 90nm (Socket 939) - Retail (ADA3000BPBOX) (CP-117-AM) This week only Price: £68.95 (£81.02 Including VAT at 17.5%)

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Venice 90nm (Socket 939) - OEM (CP-131-AM)
This week only Price: £70.95 (£83.37 Including VAT at 17.5%)

I'm guessing getting any of these chips to 2.4Ghz or even higher will out perform your old cpu. (I love a good bargin)

To be honest your current system is reasonably well balanced and you will need to spend quite a lot of money for a decent upgrade.

A CeleronD 2.93ghz isn't toooooooo bad (a 3000+ is at most 50% faster in games), a 16pipe 6800 is reasonable and 2gig RAM is plenty. Just try being more realistic with the settings you use in modern games i.e. turn things down to get a playable framerate.

I'd either stick with the Celeron and save up some money for a big upgrade. Or upgrade to a Pentium4. Your excisting 2gb ram is no problem, the 6800 has still got a decent amount of life in it(Ive got 2x6600gt'sd in SLI, which is roughly equivalent to a 6800GT, and I can play Oblivion with most settings on high after a decent bit of tweaking)

Tbh guys, theres no point in helping this kid. All he does is be cheeky and impolite. I added him on msn, help him out for a while.. then he ends up insulting my mum?
