Want to install Linux

Hi, My system has windows xp pro installed at the moment and i want to also install linux, I really do not want to touch the xp pro install and would rather dual boot, Is there any way i can do this without the possibility of damaging the xp pro install?

Simply create another partition on which to install Linux. Linux will let you choose where to install your boot loader, if you REALLY don't want to touch the Windows drive install into /root and make sure that hdd is first in the BIOS boot order.
