Want to learn guitar - which one to buy?

Did you buy a guitar yet?

I would also recommend the Yamaha Pacifica. After buying a cheap, rubbish guitar out of the Argos catalogue (had no idea and internet was in its early days) and learning what I could on it I saved for a Pacifica and it was so good, it made such a difference to may playing and learning.

I've given my Pacifica away and I now regret it. They are lovely guitars.

I'm sort of in the same boat. I'm mainly interested in learning electric guitar, but we had 2 acoustic guitars in the garage, so I figured I'd try them first. I've been messing about for about 3 weeks and I'm really enjoying it.

Look for guitars with low action (space between the strings and the frets). The 2 guitars we had were very different; some cheapo one (Valentino or something), and a half decent Yamaha. I figured I'd get to grips on the cheap one, then move to the Yamaha (and eventually an electric), but I was kind of struggling getting consistent chords. I gave the Yamaha a try and the difference in action makes it way easier to play and a lot more enjoyable.

Justin Guitar on Youtube is a good starting point for free online tutorials.

One of these Strat hss packs is ideal. Plenty of sellers about for these. One example below. Nicer to play than the pacifica imo.

These guitars are nice to play as long as they stay in tune.

I got one of these for my nephew and it constantly is going out of tune and he is a beginner, so very little string bending. And forget about the tremolo.

The Pacifica guitars stay in tune better as long as you are not using the tremolo.

The strats in that pack shouldn't go out of tune, the dealer could fix that in 5 mins by making sure the nut isn't binding and checking the spring tension on the tremolo.

It can happen if the strings are replaced with a different gauge to standard as well.

I'd love to see a Fender Strat that doesn't go out of tune, it would be the Holy Grail.
I've had 45 years of constantly waiting for Strat players to tune up.
