hi there i currently have a

nvidia gtx 760

i would like to run a multi monitor setup would it be better to

stick with the 760 or change to another gfx card?

also i currently have a 27" 1080p monitor

would the other 2 monitors need to be matching or not?

The 760 isn't a very powerful card but I personally don't believe there is a single GPU solution except a 7990 or 690 that is capable of running 3 screens at high spec in games.

I have used triple 1080P 120Hz screens with no issues at all on nVidia 680's (2 of them) and Titans (2 of them).

You can always get another 760 for SLI and this should be able to run most games with very decent details :)

You can run surround with 3 of the same resolution monitors but not for instance two 1080P's and a 1680x1050.

thanks for the reply gregster i was just wondering to whether or not ditch the 760

and buy a amd 280x/290pro

or buy the similar variant for nvidia 680/690

or add a 2nd 760?

Glad to give some advice to surround gamers :)

All those cards you mention will require 2 of. The cheapest and best option would be to get another 760 (They are pretty fast). I connected all mine with 3 D-DVI connectors and it was the easiest set up ever.

Did you have a budget in mind?

well not really but if we could keep costs low then i would be very happy to go with the easiest and best way another issue is that im running a OCZ 550W ZS would i need to change GPU or not ?

do the 3 mons have to be identical to run the nvidia set up or do they only have to be this for the 3d surround and not the standard one?

They can be 3 different monitors but the same resolution is essential. Technically, you could run 2 X 1660P monitors and 1 1080P monitor but the other two would need to run at 1080P (If that makes sense).

Also, that PSU would need to be changed and I would go for a decent make 850W PSU. I ran 2 680's on a 750W with no issue but it didn't leave much room, so 850W for safety or higher.

right heres the dilemma i face now i cant get another 760 as my mobo only supports xfire so i get a 770 780 780 ti titan or go to the dark side and switch to amd?

No probs :)

Have AMD fixed the stutter in eyefinity yet?

i dont think its an intermittent issue just depends on the setup but will get back

to you guys about which way i go with this seeing that r9 280x runs fine could

be the sweet spot as the PSU may just cope with the power demands of a single card

You would still need 2 of them to get decent settings in modern games (just to give you a heads up).

I will get some bench results for you to look at.

As you can see, you need a couple of cards as a minimum to get playable frames with decent settings.

wow thank you for the graphs greg :-)

right so i should really be looking at high then i guess if i require a single card set up

would my 550w PSU be able to handle the power demands of say a gtx 780?

i can see ocuk sell gtx 680s at 250£ a pop but would be a wise option?

You do know that those graphs I did have either 2 680's or 2 Titans?
