want to try and get into dead rising

It's still probably my favourite game on the platform. A genuine breath of fresh air and a real attempt to try something new. It's action/arcade/rpg/strategy/horror survival and it works.

Also as Dawn of the Dead (original) is one of my favourite films I couldn't have asked for more.

I'm going to have to play it again soon.

Yeah it's a pretty decent game. I was impressed with how many zombies it could render on screen whilst maintaining a decent framerate.

At that bit near the end when you're in the tunnel there must be hundreds of zombies on screen and it's still running as smooth as whipped cream :D

Apparently the engine can run between 400-600 zombies at a time, which, for my money makes it the most impressive engine I've ever seen. Especially with the sheer number of textures in the game.

I need to play this again at some point, when my hard drive failed I lost my saved progress :(

I'd finished the game but was just working through the achievements.

i was in a hardware store yesterday, about 4-5 chainsaws, lead pipes, sickles, hedge trimmer things, explosive cans etc were all in there on shelves and stuff.

As much as I've never been able to get into any of my mates XBox 360 games, I must say that any game that enables you to put a bucket over the head of a zombie, then pelt him with bags of frozen peas, deserves a huge amount of credit! :D

Just getting into this game. But having problems beating the gunshop boss. Anyone any idea's im on L7 pp.

Yeah he's quite difficult, I would say level up a bit first.

I went right up to the counter and just whacked him with whatever I had, Chainsaws, Machete...whatever. Don't bother with guns, they seem to be severely underpowered against all of the bosses. Get the +food heal book thing and lots of food, he dishes out quite a lot of damage.

I did enjoy Dead Rising overall but I never truly got into it, mainly because of the tearing, it totally ruined it. Tearing in a console game FFS, UNACCEPTABLE.

The reason i didnt like it i think is because there is only so much fun you can have killing lifeless enemies, the AI is a peace of **** to program, they just moan and follow you - and yea you can do some fun kills. But the story line is rubbish, the atmosphere is non existant, it just has an hour of fun to it and then... well its just boring - i enjoyed the save mechanism though thought that was good if not frustrating

Man of no taste tbh :p

There is a bug with the gunshop boss where you can literally stand in the doorway and shoot him without him shooting you. He's definitely a tough one.

I was never sure whether this was a bug or not though it was certainly the way I always took him down.

What do ya mean by tearing mate?

It's basically when the framerate is faster than the refresh rate (I think) you get part of one frame and part of the next visible on screen at the same time. It looks terrible.

Only occurs on LCD monitors from what I've heard/seen,

It would seem to be specific monitors and screens as I know some people reported it on some and others didn't.

An example of which was my Plasma screen, when I play on that I don't notice any tearing on any games, however I have noticed tearing on other screens on the same games.

Cletus is his name and he is a pita - even with katana's, imo the best weaps to take him out with. Hide behind the postcard stall things (protect you from gunfire) and wait for him to start drinking and then run out, jump onto the counter and take a swipe or two before running back behind the stall.

I liked it to start with then stopped playing it for some reason. Might try and get back into it again but I think it was the problematic AI when trying to escort people.
