As the title suggests. I'm currently using AGP, but have several PCI 2.2 slots available. Will be used for basic computer stuff and some gaming, but not overly extreme amounts. Got Pentium 4 3.2ghz and 2gb RAM. Few questions:

Does PCI-E work in a PCI 2.2 slot?

What's the consensus on these cards:

GeForce 7600GT AGP 512MB DDR2 DVI/TVO
Leadtek GeForce 7600 GT 256MB GDDR3 HDTV/DVI (AGP) - Retail (looks good to me)

Any other recommendations welcome. Preferably want to keep it below £90.

Cheers

Hmm, seems somewhat overkill for what it'll be used for. I'm not looking for something thats absolutely amazing, just something better than the fx 5600 for a decent price.

PCI-E only works in a PCI-E slot, not PCI. By the sounds of it, your motherboard was made before PCI-E was released or before it became mainstream.

A x1650 xt ddr3 agp card for 40-50 quid is a good casual gaming card.

lol im still using a 5600 xt and I have to say it copes ok with most games at around 800 x 600 that is lol. my advice would be to get the 7600gt if you don't want to go overkill.

The 1950 pro isnt 'absolutely amazing', but it is compared to everything else within your budget. You can get them pretty cheap 2nd hand too.

tbh for a reasonable upgrade at next to no cost simply try and grab an 9800 Pro / XT pref XT or a 6800 / X800 series. any of those will be a step up from what you have.

could sell your card £10-15 at auction

9800 - £20 on here
6800 - £40 tops
X800 - £40

so possible £15-20 to upgrade
