want to upgrade my graphic card in 2 weeks

Something's definitely not right there mate, I'd be tempted to return that card. Out of interest what Case are you running and is there enough air flow getting to the card to keep it cool?

At this price, and want to last for a few years @ 1080p, why dont you consider 7990?
If you dont mind to add another one in a few years later then 290 is a good option.

well my 6990 lasted me a good 3years. a 290x is double the performance in most games so a 290x should last me good 3years.

the only reason why i got this 290x is because i can pay weekly to the retail.

anyway. im rma this card. they are getting it picked up tomorrow, they said they'll test it once they've received it and if they see the same, they'll send another replacement, but if that one also faulty they said i can go for a different make... i know this card is faulty, because when i underclock the core to 1020mhz it's all ok no artifacting. also on the first card i didn't have any of this...

Good luck with the new card. It's a right nuisance, but once you get a properly working one it'll be well worth the time and effort. :)

Well i asked that exact question recently and the general consensus is they are about equal however the Tri-X is garaunteed to have Hynix mem, which swung it for me :)

just noticed on this card the gpu temp goes to around 90c+ after about 5 to 10 minutes of play, where on the first card the gpu temp went to around 83c after about 20 minutes of play.

surely has this card is Asic 75.1% is should run slightly cooler than the first card which was Asic 71.8%

im glad it's going back today...

Mate do you mind me asking how you're paying weekly for it?

honestly I'd go with powercolor; that's one I'm eyeing up as its a beast.....:) Gibbo says its as good if not better cooler as tri-x......its 3 slotish but slightly less in length than tri-x.....

and backplate :D

Far as I know; its not voltage locked; it doesn't throttle as its a beast of a cooler; its really underrated card actually.

Gibbo or someone else with the card can answer better; but that's the one that's on top of my list for upgrade right now :D

the reason why i am asking is because i have read that the tri-x has something like 225w~ limit

edit: maybe that was a sapphire card that had the watts limit

I have the PCS+, it is gem of a card. its not voltage locked or power limited.

Its also very well made, full metal Shroud, a proper backplate...... read my Mini Review in my sig.

haha i wonder what the return rate is on the 290 series, i had loads of problems with my sapphire tri-x...... i got a refund and bought a 780ti instead......... no problems since.
