Wanting to learn a Trade but what?

Plumbers have an awful lot of courses and training, not really something you can learn part time I would not have thought.

Then that's a shame, as it is worth it in the long run.

It is lucrative for sure, but it is a lot of your time on your hands and knees, I doubt it is a good trade for your back or knees. Plastering would keep you comparatively fit and supple, lots of stretching out.

My understanding was the 'theres a big shortage of plumbers' thing was old news, when it was news many enrolled in courses thinking they would earn £50,000 a year.

When they all finish their courses there will be a glut.

Some confirmation http://www.prnewswire.co.uk/cgi/news/release?id=161844

Interestingly the last plasterer I had in, said theres a shortage of plasterers.

Maybe plastering is the new plumbing. :p

TDF.

Theres an influx of Polish construction worker/tradesmen at the moment, Although this is good in the short term its also bad in that it will drive the wages down for those jobs in the long term.

plumbing is a good trade for sure, but like someone said i dont think there is such a shortage now, there is probably a shortage of quality plumbers.. but there is quantity now.

all of the mentioned trades are good, i guess u could get on the ladder in a year or so with any of them if ya work hard
