My gaming history has consisted of primarily home computers:

Spectrums
Amiga/Atari
PC's

Ive dabbled with consoles, but allways found myself going back to my trusty home computer.

Anyway, I have myself a Wii, which is great for the most part and recently borrowed Zelda TP from a friend.

Ive REALLY REALLY wanted to like this game and want to become immersed in the game, yet so far, I have to say im un-impressed :(

If I was playing the same thing on the PC, I wouldnt be too impressed to be honest. Gameplay seems basic at most compared to other games ive played.

The lack of voice acting in my opinion is a downer in my opinion. Some will say "But thats not what Zelda is about" - Cmon, its the 21st Century, I expect voice acting on a game in todays age, maybe I expect too much?

I know Zelda has a loyal following and im aware I will get some flaming for this post but im just after assurance that by sticking the game out, admittedly, ive not played that much so far that it does get better.

It appears to me that anyone who has played the Zelda series from the beginning, adores this game. From the perspective of someone who is new to the franchise and a mainly PC based gamer, it appears so far to be nothing to get excited about.

Also wondering if anyone else thinks the same or maybe im just on my own with my thoughts?

I am a born again Zelda fan.

I only played Ocarina of Time and LttP many moons ago when i was a wee lad so i cant remember anything about them.

I think the Wii Zelda TP is awesome.

Awaits Kreeee

Enjoy zelda but must admit i think is very overated "The best game of all time" comon surely not

The story is to basic for a True RPG its more of a action game i think
Dont get me wrong i liked the games i have played on the N64 just think is not all that really

Part of Zelda's charm is that it has a huge history, apart from Mario there isn't another game/character that have the same level of gaming heritage as Zelda. The master sword, green turnets, boomerangs, dungeons, puzzles, bombs and the little noise you get when you open a chest are what gives Zelda it's charm. Everytime i hear that title tune my heart skips a beat :p

Each Zelda game to the next have lots of similarities yet different enough and improved on the previous game. You might want to play one of the older Zelda games first to add a bit of history into it.

watch the 6 part retrospective to see what you've been missing :p

How long have you played it? For me, first couple of hours wasn't great but it was getting better as I played on.

Also it is actually Gamecube port as it was originally for Gamecube before they came up with Wii.

I struggled to get into it myself but once you've left the village, done the first dungeon it really does start to pick up very quickly and i'm loving it now. I have to agree with the voice acting thing though it did find that a bit of a disappointment. Horseback fighting, thats where its at! :D

well, i adored the Ocarina of Time, and as a story driven game it probably is one of the best i have ever played - but i think if i went back and played it now i wouldnt see that charm.

Just couldnt get into Wind Walker, and i'm yet to try this on my Wii as i'm writing my thesis up, and dont need the distraction!

Twilight Princess was ace, you just haven't played the others.

This is the game that brought me back from 3 years of PC gaming.

As a true fanboy of the big N i love Zelda.

Last night i got to the water temple to get the final shard. Just love the same noises being used, and the similar themes such as zora armour and the metal boots but with extras like the magnetic rocks to walk on and horsefighting/guarding the carriage.

Wonderful stuff.

I've played most Zeldas released in the past, and OoT was my favourite game ever for a while, but I'm really finding it difficult to adore TP in the same way. Maybe I've outgrown Zelda. :(

I dont mind them, but cant say Im a huge fan. I actually picked up Twilight Princess at launch and havent even played it yet. My lass had one go on it and thats been the only time its been in the Wii.

I also played Wind Waker for a little bit as I bought the GC version, again enjoyed it but havent been back to it.

No, you're not the only one.

I'm pretty much the same background as you - mainly PC Games (although I did get a PS2 just for racing MP games with my best mate).

At first I thought it was a bit pants, then I started to enjoy it, but after a while (saved game said six hours played, if I recall correctly) I just lost the will to load it up. I wanted this to grab me and make me think about it when I taking a break at work, but it never happened.

I traded Zelda TP in for a copy of Excite Truck - which I've spent more time playing in the space of the last week.

Maybe it's because I've never played the previous games (this is my first Nintendo console), or maybe I just wasn't all that impressed with the way it played - it just felt so basic and....the story, well, I'll just say that was the least impressive thing about it, in my opinion.

Perhaps I'm being over-critical, but I feel six hours is long enough for me to come to a conclusion about a game! On the other hand, as I get older, I find myself becoming less tolerant of games - perhaps that's just me!

I've even considered getting rid of my Wii entirely over the last week.

OOT is the only game I've ever faked an illness for to skip school and play the game. Stayed home for an entire week playing it. Never done that again with any other game and probably never will.

I think that's what he was meaning lol

You to come in here, turn white then go postal :D

I dont think kree would be expecting everyone to love everything.

TP is a great game, I think its easy to get lost thinking about zelda games as you always have the perception it has to be the greatest game you ever played. Especially after OoT its easy to not remember even if some bits arent perfect its still a heck of a lot better than 99% of all other games that are released. I am at the final bit of TP and have racked up 50 hours of play. All that gameplay was true gameplay aswell not just mindlessly leveling up.

My main criticsim of TP would have to be its lack of story direction, imo it seemed to no where near the same level of story telling or create the same emotions that a game like OoT did.

Still its a great game to play and is well worth playing on with.
