Hi Guys,

Am hoping to make the jump to Linux but have no experience with anything other than Windows, what sort of things do I need to consider, such as what version of Linux is better for a newbie? Can they be configured to operate in a similar fashion to Windows? (My missus can just about log onto facebook) But with the increased functionality?

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

You can make it look like a windows clone if you like, the effort is in setting it up to do so, as opposed to actually using the finished article. There are some OS which as designed to behave like windows, Zorin for example. Not sure how good it really is though. The new DE's for ubuntu may scare you, I haven't looked at them for a while, but I'm not sure if its still the OS to recommend.
