I have a small pile of 500GB hard drives, fully working just taken out of old PCs. Thing is they are just collecting dust and I would like to sell them on to continue their life but I am concerned of data recovery. Selling on something like eBay, you never know, some dubious person with a tool and a bit of time may try their luck on getting back some of the data back.

So I need some way to ensure that cant happen. Any ideas?

write over the entire disk with data, huge game files ect repeated till it fills the drive

data that has been overwritten on a magnetic platter has never been recovered. By anyone. Ever
