So Bin Laden was shot dead. makes me wonder why they shot him if he was unarmed according to latest reports. were they worried that their charges would not hold up in a court of law? anyway shooting an unarmed man is paramount to murder, i don't care if the guy is a serial killer, pedophile, rapist, etc... - we have laws to ensure fair trials

don't get me wrong i think killing civilians for any cause is lame and doesn't really work imo. Ghandi, MLK and Mandela were much more successfull in achieving their aims peacefully - Palestinians take heed!!!

that said i really think this War on Terror is a load of BS. we have
- given up freedom (flying nowdays sucks, terrorism laws foresaking basic civil liberties etc...)
- involved in pointless wars/invasions with countless civilains killed,
- sunk billions to the army which could have been spent on more usefull things
- closed our eyes on torture for the sake of interrogations
- guantanamo holding people for years without any charges and no trial in sight.

at the end of the day how many terrorist have been sentenced as a result of trials in all this ? less than a dozen perhaps?

is it all worth it?

i think not

I'm suffering from déjà vu:

It's not lost the plot. It's doing what the worlds governments want and keeping us in a permanent state of fear.

Used to be the Cold War and now it's the shadow of "terrorism"

He wouldn't have been taken alive.
He wasn't unarmed?
He used his wife as a human shield.

**** fair trial, the guy was a lunatic and a danger to civil society. Didn't bother reading beyond this nonsense tbqfh.

What are you proposing as an alternative?

how about foreign policies that aren't devoid of morality, tackle global poverty, better access to basic education etc...

terrorism is a symptom and not the source of the problem, and acting like terrorist to fight terrorist certainly is not the answer. in the meantime we can put on trial terrorist we do capture and not murder them on the spot - why else do we have a judicial system?

PS the US did the exact same thing to Pablo Escobar in their War on Drugs. see a pattern of executions without trial?

he was unarmed, maybe you should bother reading newspapers if you can't bother reading a few lines in a post - at least you would have more accurate information to base your conclusions

He posted this twice because he didn't get any attention. I can think of many more people who were far worse than Osama.

Personally I dont believe he is dead. The US government need an escape goat due to Libya so they can get people back on there side.

Because USA is on the verge of Vietnam v2 with the people rioting. Just wish the yanks and brits would keep there noises out of other countries business. Only there for the oil anyways. I still believe that 9/11 was done via CIA as yanks needed to get people on there side so they could get away with causing illegal wars for oil.

Oh for the love of Pete...

One minor inaccuracy in my post does not vindicate the idiocy of yours. Armed or unarmed, the guy was a dangerous lunatic. It took years to convict Milosevic when he was on trial and the outcome was a foregone conclusion. Why repeat this on somebody who is known to be guilty of all his crimes? Who is that fairer on? Who benefits from that?

Your argument was ignored first time round because it was idiotic. Let it die already.

Perhaps my mind works in an old fashioned way. If you comit a serious crime (rape / murder) then you should loose any civil liberties you currently have. You should also be punished proportionately.

If you purposely go out and kill a person and then you get 20 years in jail (probably 10/15 for 'good behaviour') this surely is unfair. In my opinion we are far too kind on punishments.

A guy who has had no remorse and actively seeks and encourages people to go and kill other people does not deserve to live in a civilised world. The question you have to ask is if one of your relatives or partner was caught up in the London bombings or the Twin Towers assault would you have such a liberal viewpoint. With the data recovered from Bin Ladens lair how many potential attacks and people will that save.

Whether he was killed unarmed or with a rocket launcher makes no odds. He condemned himself with the way he conducted his life.

Who are the Americans to decide whether or not he should die/be killed?

BTW i was at Russell Square tube station when the bomb detonated and one of my close friend's bother was killed in the Twin Towers, he had a 1 year old son. I lived in NYC for 15 years so it hit very close to my heart when 9/11 happened. that doesn't mean I think we need to act like thugs to take care of a few thugs.

He condmned himself with the videos he released. He took full account for the 9/11 attacks. He is also asking for Muslims to rise up and kill other inocent people.

I personally don't care who takes him out - that he is a danger to anybody living in the World today is fairly obvious. The fact is that he, and others like him who cause these kind of attrociaties, should be stopped. If a bullet is the only way then that's fine - this guy is, after all, responsible for thousands of deaths.

So you'd propose what exactly? That the person is captured and given a few years in jail? If you walked in on someone raping your partner would that not make you want to hurt them? What if they killed your son would you not want revenge?
