I got in to the beta. It was OK, it would have been right up my street when I was a kid playing the early battlefield games, but it didn't really have that pull for me. It was fun sitting on the side of littlebirds and getting shipped in by players, you can leave tips of money to thank pilots, same with medics that revive, you can also add like incentives to reward reviving like offering money. It's all done with a hotkey in game so it's nice and simple.
The game mode was basically fighting in a large circle around a POI with an even tighter roaming circle inside that where you earned a lot more money, forcing the fight together and to move around at the sometime which I thought was an interesting mechanic. They have the ability to ricochet kills off metal surfaces which I think is cool but I can't see it ever really deliberately being used.
It's very gamey, it's like Red vs Blue vs Green colours to identify people and the artificial setup make it feel like you're in a giant game of paintball, so there's no real suspension of disbelief for me, it doesn't take itself too seriously. It's technically quite impressive, there's a lot of options to tweak everything and get a custom setup exactly how you want it, from graphics to controls. The devs seem to care about both the technical aspect and the gameplay aspects, it's one of those games where it's just really clear the devs actually care, it's hard to explain, the best way I can put it is like...it's obvious they're gamers making a game they'd want to play themselves.
I don't see myself playing it, but I don't think its bad, I'm old, grumpy/depressed and picky, it doesn't quite land for me BUT in my small amount of time with it my opinion is that if you like the look of it from its promotional material and you're excited about that kind of 3 way fight, then you'll probably like the final game.
