Wardrobes

not keen on the green credentials of pax or build (can't unsee V aluminium I thought) so would still try for diy option
the internal structure of the ikea pax is not so complimentary - below .. I would prefer solid mdf , like the older stuff we have,
Do none of the companies who make good kitchen carcasses, also do wardrobes ?

Yeah I just don't know what to do.

The Pax wardrobes aren't really 'cheap' (still coming in at nearly a grand for a larger set with accessories and doors).

And I would prefer to go for a more premium build because it will be there for a long time and my missus already has lots of lovely solid wood furniture. But I don't know if Im capable of building it to a high standard. The vision in my mind is a premium traditional wooden set of wardrobes but what will probably end up as the finished product is a wonky wobbly set of premium quality wood hidden behind amateur looking doors.

We had this dilemma. Slightly different in that the kids are a bit young to deal with the full refurb the bedroom needs Skirting, ceiling boarded and full room skimmed etc. So plan was to get proper fitted wardrobes then or go pax route and build them in like others have mentioned.

I wanted to go full cheapskate and get those Argos material wardrobes! Was overuled. So we have two IKEA Klepstadd triple wardrobes. £129 each. Changing the handles to match the room. They're not very tall and cheap. But will do for a while. Means I can get my shirt rail out the office also.

I've watched some of the YouTube videos mentioned when I made my alcove cabinets. I cheated and bought the doors though. Not convinced I have the best tools to make a job of full wardrobes. Oh but Alistair Johnson freebird videos were helpful with my alcove cabinet so may be further research for you.
