Warhammer: Age of Reckoning

It doesn't. The game will be no competition for any but mediocre games. At present the beta is in such a state that i would only play this game for a couple of hours in retail before uninstalling. If you can get past the worst animations i've ever seen, boring skills, hardly any damage then you'll soon be put off by the mind numbing quests, the new exciting PQ's.... yeah right, what's new about killing 100 mobs? Nothing about the game is an interest grabber. fair enough the classes need a lot of work, but you are bored of them by around level 7 and that's only if the absolutely mind numbing world hasn't gotten to you already.

The game will not be released in the first half of this year, not by a long shot. The whole thing needs reworked for it to actually interest people into paying a subscription and at present there is nothing there that would.

If I was releasing an MMORPG like Warhammer now and I was at the same development stage as they are now, I think I would do a feature lock ASAP.
Rlease the game in say February/March and do half-price subscriptions for 2-3 months to generate some income but to also ease people in as bugs & issues are solved.
By the time you reach month 3 you should be more or less there and can then start charing full price for your monthly subscriptions.

If they did that then Warhammer would be another Vanguard minus the eye candy.

I know people are saying that this is going to put pressure on WoW and that everyone will switch to Warhammer, but lets not forget that WoW has 9 million active subscribers and a good portion of those will no doubt buy the wrath of the lich king expansion. If this is the case, then I'm sure they'll be getting their monies worth out of that before looking at Warhammer, which is even more reason for Mithic to ensure their product is 100% complete before releasing it. I've been trying to get away from WoW for over 2 yrs, but nothing I've tried comes close for me (LOTRO and Guildwars to name a few that I tried). For that reason alone I'd love to see something to finally make me switch games, but it needs to be a game that can keep me occupied for months, not weeks as I found with the others that I've tried recently, and this is also why it needs to be 100% complete, bug free and perfect.

Different tastes for different folks I guess, but you must be playing a different beta to me cause I am having plenty of fun in the beta /shrug

I was hoping it was going to be released at the same time as AoC, so most of the younger WoW crowd would buy it, instead of AoC. Which it was going to, they both had March 25th as their release dates, until it got taken out of beta and pushed back.

I'm expecting June at the earliest, they'll most likely wait till Christmas/after new WoW expansion to maximise sales.

What I need is a time machine , the best MMO time I have ever had was 1997-2001 in UO. If I had a time machine I could go back to those times, UO was utterly awesome, in its prime it made these so-called next generation MMOs look pathetic. You could do stuff in UO 10 years ago that modern MMOs can only dream about.

Pity they kept scrapping UO2 really. Origins old motto was "We create worlds", got to admit, they sure did that, every MMO I have played since was just a game, UO was a closest to a living breathing world I have played.

Highly likely that I'll never see another MMO like it, so got to make do with whats around these days

Hehe...I am still expecting to see floods of the younger crowd in AoC, even more so because its got bewbies, "sex" and the rating on it. You know kids, they adore the 18 games and anything that lets them take off clothes and run around in the game towns, jumping and bouncing and shouting "boobs!!" :D

Nope, if you're in it then it was the same one. I was so disgusted i gave mine away. Dark Elves were just poor imo. Dwarves and Greenskins were fun for a little while... all 20 levels before the boredom set in. Just no oomph to anything in that game.

Lol more than likely, but i think it should turn out to be a bigger percentage of mature gamers - hopefully. No sex unfortunately but plenty of "bewbies" :p

Should have sold it, could have made a nice sum on that :) and no, in case anyone is wondering, I'm not giving mine away, having too much fun :D

Not sure why Age of Conan hasnt got me excited, just something...cant quite put my finger on it. I *should* be excited about it, but for some reason I'm not.

Couldn't put it better my self.

Hahaha, if he did, i'd have sent it right back, i hate that game, tested it for a month then cried for 6 months after i realised i lost a part of my life to that crap game.

Hey come on..... each to their own guys, not everyone is going to like this game, everyone is different dont forget?

I'm sure there are some games you totally love which I will this are total rubbish?

Yeah your true, but trust me, this game is not worth it.

Lol ;)

Everyone is entitled to an opinion and thats yours..... fair enough.

I got the same opinion of EVE, I bought it, installed.... played for an hour and couldnt figure out what to do.... mined something for a bit and was just totally lost and bored at the same time.

I think thats crap but I can hold my hands up and say I didnt give it enough time and I know its a hugely popular game and wont knock anyone who plays it.
