My word the visuals look absoloutley bloody awful. Seriously, WoW looks dated but Warhammer online looks like something from 2001/2!?

Explain please someone? They managed lovely graphics with LOTRO - why not this?

Its still in the closed beta phase thats why! the game is quite some way off being finished.

To put it plain and simply they are not going to polish/tune up the visuals until a lot nearer the release.
 
Why does everyone say WoW looks dated?

On a 24 inch screen at 1920x1200 it looks fantastic, especially places like Wetlands & Duskwood.
 
Well I've been playing WOW on and off since beta...... its not so much I find the graphics dated, I just find them slightly kiddy.... if you know what I mean? but thats just my opinion and in now way do I think they are 'bad' or 'dated'

What do you expect from an online game anyways?

I'm sorry but even if the artwork is nice, the graphics looked dated from day 1.

And who ever said that Warhammer was in beta and the graphics were going to improve is talking nonsense. At this stage of development the graphics engine is done along with textures models etc. They only thing they will be doing is adding more stuff to the world, tweaking animations and gameplay - that sort of thing.

I do think WoW looks dated today. But it is not about the graphics really.

I do agree Warhammer looks pish for the graphics today. It really is a WoW rip-off in many respects IMHO and MY opinion only.

Dont talk rubbish ;o) check out the podcasts they've got out.... if you can find them, theres one which shows a very brief clip of an orc beign fired from an orc catapult lol!!

Anyway they said somewhere in some text regarding it to ignore the graphics and stuff as they were still testing this and had not made animations and movements for flying orcs!! so changes still need to be made.

Also add to this fact they have not even released any information regarding the final High Elf career yet so this game is a long way off being finished when they've not even completed all the games classes and models for this clas etc etc..... theres not even been a single snippet of artwork released regarding it, no one has a clue..... they're being very secretive!

Go away and read up some before posting ;o)

As far as MMO's go the general template for the game will remain the same and will probably never change but this game is going to be very very different than WOW in many respects.... I'm not going to type word after word listing why, just go and read..... if your interested that is?? if not dont post daft things like that ;)

Edit: Also as I mentioned before you cant push graphics to far in MMORPG's and also if your playing (or not playing) an MMO because of the graphics your seriously looking at it wrong.

If you want really nice graphics.... stick to single player FPS, Oblivion, Crysis etc etc...... fun while they last though



If you want me to go far back, its really WOW thats a rip off as this whole fantasy world that many many games run from is the Gamesworkshop's original idea.

Not abusing you in any way my friend, I was simply asking you to gather some information on a subject before casting a poor opinion of it and that you appear (I may be wrong mind) to know little about it and have maybe just seen a few screenshots of a game still in a closed beta with NDA still in place and still has no real or defined release date?

Please dont call me an idiot mate or threaten me with further insults, thats un-called for..... this is a forum where people discuss there opinions, I was just asking you that maybe you should check out something a little more in-depth before casting such a poor opinion of it.

Of course, abuse comes in various ways. You assume I know nothing of Warhammer and cannot have an opinion as it does not match or come close to what YOU personally think.

So therefore I MUST not know anything on the game and only base my opinion from some screenshots.

So yes, you did abuse me in a one sense. But lets not get anal about it.

My point is to be careful what you say, opinions differ and before asking what I do know or do not, please do not tell people to go away as that can be taken as offensive behaviour or even threatening in some sense or another.
 
I've said it before and I'll say it again, but games developers must stop this obsession with graphics. It was fine back in '86 when gameplay was severely impacted by lack of graphics processing power, but now what we have is good enough.

With that in mind it's a good thing that WAR's graphics look dated - it hopefully means the dev team will have spent their money making their game fun rather than on shiny graphics.
 
With MMO's I would never expect the graphics to be on par with games such as UT3, CoD4 etc.

I enjoyed playing Final Fantasy on the Super Nintendo for the story, items etc.

Saying that, comparisons will be thrown around when comparing the graphics of x game made 10 years ago being similar to a game being brought out say next month. Only normal I suppose.

Not at all, I'd never openly threaten or belittle someone on a public forum..... but I've been following and eagerly awaiting this game since the site was launched back in 2005 and have very high expectations of it...... and then someone (who I can only gauge) appears to know little about it and basically says its crap in one sentence... I'm going to jump to its defense.

I was not saying you CANNOT have an opinion thats plain daft...... but it appeared you (as mentioned) were voicing an opinion based on only a nugget of the information thats available.

So if I have offended you then I apologise for that, it was certainly not my intention and reading back through my post it did not appear to be offending but reading words from a screen can be taken differently by everyone.

Water under the bridge as it were ;)

Unfortunately I gave up WOW a month or two before Christmas having played it to death and me not being a hardcore gamer found very little content to particpate in at lvl 70 apart from rep grind fests to gain entry to heroics (which you repeat over and over to get badges) and very very repetitive PVP.

Hence me switching to LOTRO while I wait for Warhammer Online

Just to add I never really had a problem with WOW's graphics, as mentioned earlier I just get a very cartoony/kiddish feel when playing it.

Didn't even know there was any new content coming out.

Not had much chance to play recently, guess I've got some reading up to do :)

I agree, at a good resolution and settings on max (which isn't difficult on todays hardware) the game looks superb in places

But then again in the majority it does look slightly average, by no means poor though
