Warhammer Online

Ive never palyed wow but i find it kinda hard to beleive its a wow clone. It doesn't seem to be going in the same direction. Unfortunetly it is a barron waste land, i play it every now and then. But its not the sort of thing you can make a regular bash at without feeling like your grating your face against a wall just trying to find a group of people to play with lol.

Good guilds will help, but finding them hard to come by tbh.

Hope i didn't kill a puppy :)

WAR is nothing like a WoW clone. The entire system is different, it has next to no similarities in either combat style, quest style, character advancement or gear. I liked WAR for the short time I was able to play it, but it was the buggiest thing I have ever installed on my system.

I think a lot of people call War a WoW clone because the UI's are similar, and Blizzard totally ripped off the visual style of the Warhammer universe. But the games themselves are definitely individual.

Not sure why people are saying its quiet - when I quit about 2months ago (on Karak Azgal and K8P) there were always loads of RvR going on, never short of a group for that.

PQ's were hard to get a group for, mainly because the rewards were very poor - and nobody really grouped for general questing as there was no real point. If your not in a big guild come T4 though, your pretty much screwed, as RvR becomes large scale and needs direction.

its a clone in the way you have battle grounds which are almost the same as wow i know warhmmer was first with ocs etc as used to love war hammer 40k. the ui are the same combat is the same i just think it was a really let down

I think people say it's a WoW clone because it's played on a PC, and everyone knows WoW was the first PC game, ever.

I also think people are idiots :p

I really enjoyed it for the first 20 or so levels, in fact I actually thought I'd found the next mmo for me, and that's saying a lot. But then it dwindled, people in my guild stopped playing, I got tired of tor anroc and the ironbreaker punt, and when rvr turned into either a lag fest or 2 opposing warbands actually avoiding each other to cap keeps I left the game forever.

Such a travesty from the makers of daoc in the warhammer universe, it should have been EPIC. I was so disappointed with it I feel Mark Jacobs needs to go to jail for a long time to comepnsate

This pretty much sums up my views on the game.

They are shutting down an awful lot more borehammer servers now too, but rumour mill says they are gonna do another expansion on daoc \o/

After the last few expansions for DAOC - I won't hold me breath mate!

Would love to ressurect some of my US server chars though! Doubt the EU servers would ever get back to a playable level though, which is where my best characters are :(

Good, they should have done that day 1, they released about 10x more servers than were needed and even then they had locked player limits below capacity for months, they even added more servers before upping the limits to the maximum... it was the most retarded management of player populations I've ever witnessed and all but a couple of realms suffered as a result.

I play on Karak Norn enjoying it so far. How much fun you have on the server depends on the people who are on it. My friend plays also so at least i have someone to party with. Luckily the server i play on is quite populated so it doesnt get boring.

I was playing this up until recently, I was playing on the biggest US server (Dark crag) and it was an amazing game for the first 4-5 months, But when you start to realise that the 'endgame' is actually PVE then my interested started to dwindle. I mean everything up to the forts was good, Even with the horendous lag all the time.

Also i think the games launch wasnt that bad (comparing to AOC) The biggest mistake they made was making way to many servers, But they thought it would be better to do that than have more people in less server and have the servers crash every 2 minutes.

And to the wow clone comments, people said AION looks like wow.. So if people say that then basically ANY mmo that comes out is a wow clone.

after being a beta tester and playuing the first 3 weeks then coming back to it about 3 weeks ago. I feel ive comfirmed the devs are morons, the game shoulda been a lot better then it is and all my friends left and its vry hrd to find people that dont have stories like "yaeh i used to have a guild, but everyone unsubbed" or "i have to keep switching guilds because they unsub" etc.

And with the new proposed changes for 1.3 i wonder if there is any hope. I mean even with a 2 man test group they could have worked out how utterly stupid those changes were. And GOA omg they arnt fired yet?

I go on the USA warhammer website, first thing i see is "customer support". I go on the GOA website, once ive got past the stupid advert in my face telling me to take a trial that i gota close then where do i see customer support? Nope that doesn't exist for the EU lol.

There is also something seriously wrong with their optimization to be bringing my pc down to sub 10 fps in rvr. Id like to see the figures in subs and how fast they are dropping.

WoW's no better in Wintergrasp - in fact its worse, and the textures aren't as high. I don't think its optimisation, its just the volume of people on there and OTT spell effects.

There were some unbelievable design decisions for WAR, I agree - no idea why they thought some of them would actually work. PvE for end game? Ramps in keeps?

They do seem to be fixing it, but I'm not holding out much hope to see significant improvements for a while.

their optimization become way better since the beginning.
i think the mechanics had potential, the capital cities look amazing.
the main problem is that it doesnt feel like an MMO, the zones just feel like levels, doesnt feel like an actually word, which was a shame as the visuals were really very nice.
classes like the witch hunter felt fleshed out, others like the fire-mage (name escapes me) didnt feel very well thought out, and very much a glass cannon.

the game had/has a lot of potential, but needs a lot of tweaking
