Does anyone else here still play/paint warhammer?

i have just got back into it and i forgot how good it was when i used to paint them, except my painting hand has since gotten a lot more steadier from 3-4 years back. here is what i have managed to conjure up so far, anyone else feel like posting some pics?

i have some more designs that im going to do, second Tyranid is in painting.

i dont think i will upload high quality piccys as they show minor dents in my teqnique :D

Its whether you enjoy playing it, i used to go to the sessions to learn when i was about 10 and could never pick it up also found it boring with the moronic 40 year old shop assistants yelling as if they were their in the middle of an epic battle.

I dont find a lot of things interesting but i enjoy doing this.

i do agree they do overcharge, but i spend more time painting them than watching a brand new film and probably costs the same amount. i also take my time painting, the Tyranid took me about a week to complete and i am still missing bits like the base, second arms and perhaps some leeches.

the only expensive thing that i think they majorly overcharge for is the paint, last time i bought it at the shop it was £1.80 for 12ml's.

the fact is though even though the staff whom work their are a bit ecstatic they help you with any painting problems you might have, free wargame lessons and the fact that they actually know their stuff.

Those are amazing Vargo, where did you learn to paint like that? i am trying to pick up new teqniques but cannot find anywhere helping me. i have known about Drybrushing, colour blending for quite a while but some of yourt teqniques look great.

I just enjoy painting them, not really into playing it as i have tried many times. i have collected all sorts and feel that having a large collection to look at is great.

I wish I had the patience for painting models well, but I don't really. Plus, my hands tend to shake when doing anything requiring small all delicate movements, such as painting.
Plus, painting a zillion necron warriors gets damn boring!

It depends, some people really like painting and find it satisfying like myself, while others find differant things interesting. if you want to get better at painting you just have to practise like anything and spend your time learning differant ways of painting and spending time painting each peice. you will eventually become quicker.

Never played Warhammer or anything like it. But it does amaze me that they seem to have a shop on most high streets. I wondered how they were managing it considering so many shops seem to be struggling recently.

To be honest i have not noticed this, have not been their since 05 ^_^, most of the stuff i came across was already basecoated in my painting box i found in the garage and triggered an interest. i will have to go in and take a gander.

orks were the win! sheer numbers always won the games i played, more so in epic 40k than wh40k, just leg it as fast as you can to the front, and win on pure strengt!

Orcs were also awesome in the fantasy warhammer... man i loved some of their weapons! Can anyone saw squig? :D

I won orcs when i used to play it quite a lot with my space marines, the only true army i found were hard were the Necrons. they were brutal.
