Warm winter coat

I have a fairly technical mountain wear shell jacket, not a very expensive one probably about £60 its really just a single wind and waterproof layer, lightweight with a mesh lining, under this I can wear a fleece and normal clothing. I agree with the thermal base layer leggings and top in really cold weather though. With the above I have been in minus 10 -15 windchill and been comfortable.

+1 on the layering. Equip yourself with a one-piece base layer, thermal underwear, high collar shirt, merino wool jumper, good quality 3m lined leather gloves, goretex boots + quilted outer jacket and trapper hat. Keep moving at all times. Beware of tourists asking to take pictures. If queues are long then walk on the spot or do hindu squats.

I got an O'Neill one a few years ago that's windproof, waterproof and has a fake fur lined hood. Has kept me toasty warm even when it's -3C outside. Best £200 I've ever spent.

I just use layers, like those above. Works well even with cheap surplus kit. I even bought myself a Chinese Fighting Suit recently, to use out in the unheated workshop.

Remember to wear a hat, and consider some gloves and a scarf or a shemagh. Will keep you much warmer than a fashion house label on your sleeve.

It's like £650 for their cheapest proper coat
Really?
You could buy Kitanica jackets for less than that!!

Sadly browsing their latest line up seems a lot more fashion oriented lines - few years back it was much more technical predominantly.
Technical? Is that anything like like 'tacticool'? :D

I've got decent gloves and a proper fur lined trapper hat, so I'm good on that front! Getting thermals today/tomorrow. It's just really a decent warm coat I'm missing which I'll sort early next week.

Bought a Fjallraven Skogso Jacket - really warm and comfy and way cheaper than the CG I liked. Blokey in shop was super helpful and said unless you are going on an artic trek or or you work in Alaska or Canada in the wilds don't bother with a CG for UK.

Bought some nice gloves as well as considering I was way under budget, roll on a week on Monday - can't wait!
