So i'm midway through my custom car, i've designed it from the ground up - and i'm getting pretty close, the trouble i'm having is making the thing look sleek even though its got to be a certain height to fit my head + helmet in,

I've managed this design: but it required lowering the roof another 5cm which is going to be a pain

So i'm asking for people to draw on the one below with a few ideas for back end + bonnet shape to give it the low look without reducing the height. If nobody can think of anything i'll go with the first design - but it involves the passenger being VERY laid back! :D

Just a quick question, you have gone to all that trouble to keep weight down yet fitted what looks like the biggest and heaviest wheels you could find?

It also doesn't look that strong?

gotta have a bit of bling :) I'll eventually be getting a set of ultra lightweight magnesium wheels, but for now those will do

as regards strength you are only seeing the outline, there's at least double that amount of tubing to be added for strength....

Please keep this on topic, the design is NOT finished, so please don't comment on strength - i *just* want a photoshop for the bonnet and rear

sorry gord, what i've completely failed to mention is there is no body on this - it will remain open chassis in a buggy sort of style. I would LOVE to be able to get a body made up - but it's just beyond my capabilites at present - so just stick to tubing...

Arhar.. righto.. hmm, will have a rethink then. So its sort of Atom style or is it Radical style?

Best think along atom style, it will have very thin aluminium flat body panels between the tubing

nothing that is spot on, I'll get some piccies for you tonight if it helps

PS. I also have my design of it in 3dsmax format

That was me indeed! Amazing how far it's come since those beginnings! R4 is still getting the miles piled on

Currently building the prototype which will go on sale in 2012 :)

New website just gone up: www.warnercars.com

The design of the RX is still under wraps - don't need anyone copying it before it's ready!

Turnkey price is likely to be in the region of 20k as it's a far more grown up car - blistering performance, an active aero package, carbon bodywork, enclosed cockpit and full telemetry datalogging!

I had some interest last year from a UK manufacturer of bike powered off road buggies - but they had too much on their plate to diversify and nothing came of it in the end. Eventually I decided to set up on my own and it's taken this long to build the modest workshop/cnc mill, get the contacts for various outsourced parts and complete the design work. Probably dragon's den style investment would have got me there quicker! At least this way I have total control over the product :)

In terms of interest in the car, that's been the easy part! Regular emails asking for purchase details, magazine reviews and positive comments have really spurred me on to get this to market, without them I probably wouldn't have started down this path

Luckily my sister is a wind tunnel operator, should have no issues there :)

I have capacity to build two cars in parallel, at a rate of about 2 a month. There are 2 3rd parties involved in making critical parts, a chap working freelance for me for CAD/CAM and the rest will be done by myself and my partner (she's already in high end car sales) If it takes off, i'll quickly be ramping that up...
