Hi guys

I don't play that often but me and a few mates are getting together Friday night to have a bash at CS SOurce again :)

Problem is I get 'Warning: Connection Problem' in red in the top right corner 10 seconds after joining the server?

I have turned off all firewalls, anti-virus, I'm not actually losing my net connection, everything is fine?

Do I have to open ports on my router some something? Gutted as I was looking forward to playing!

I'm running Vista 64bit if that makes any difference?

PLease help :(

I also have this problem, it's not limited to CS:S either, i get it in TF2 (VERY annoying!)

I've also opened ports, checked router, checked everything it seems

Found these steam links:

I haven't tried not running antivirus yet, also am going to update router firmware later but i very much doubt that will work.

Haven't found a comprehensive answer yet, also for some reason it only happens on some servers, meaning that i have a couple of servers i can play on which is ok until they're all full or really laggy

Yeah I only get it on some tbh?

I have opened ports turned AV off but now joy :(

Let me know if you fix it and i'll do the same ;)

I'm going to throw a Netgear router on tomorrow and see if I still get the same issue?

What OS are you running btw?

Was going to play Insurgency but that will be the same I bet :(

Im also running Vista64, and yeah same problems with insurgency

I tried disabling windows defender but that didnt help, not sure if i will re-enable it again

Not wishing to throw a spanner in the works but I have much the same problem (also with insurgency) and I'm using XP.

Again it doesn't affect all servers, bizarely it seems to happen more often on the servers with low latency.... though it may just be that I notice it on those cos they are the first ones I try.

I did see a guy who was having problems trying to run insurgency so i thought that could be a common factor, but nothing changed when i uninstalled it so that rules that out. We can also rule out OS as it occurs with Vista and XP

Also i can't update my routers firmware because its the latest version. What routers are you all using? I've got a Thompson 585v6. Also what ISPs? I'm with Eclipse

I go back to uni next week and there's a different router and ISP (ASUS WL-520G with virgin cable) so will see if that helps/makes it worse

It seems to be quite a common problem so i'm surprised that nothing has helped

EDIT: According to the netgraph, my client just stops receiving packets by the looks of it, it still sends ok

Mindriot I have a Thompson 585v6 too mate!!

Latest firmware, and my ISP is ADSL24!!

Just putting lastest firmware on a Netgear DG834Gv3 now and I will put it in tonight and post my findings back here!

Had this exact same problem too.

Fixed it by swapping my BT Homehub for an old Netgear router.

(edit: I'm on Vista64 as well btw)

tweak if your problem is fixed with the netgear router then methinks we know the source of the problem and a solution, albeit an expensive one if it means getting another router
