Just a heads up

ESEA (a league based in the us with european leagues too) has a client to play PUGs (a way of playing competitive matches with people without having to find 9 other people to play with)

Anyway their client has a built in piece of code that is mining btc for them.... not sure how much gpu usage but since btc is untraceable we will possibly never find out how much they have earned through this.

As it turns out, the code that was injected into the ESEA client was done so without authorization by an unauthorized administrator who was using it for his own gains. They've since corrected it and been very transparent throughout the whole matter, and have given the details of all wallet transactions etc that occurred as a result of it.

The amount that was raised (around $3k I believe?) they have donated to an American charity, and then matched that donation with their own money. They've then increased the prize pools by the same amount also.

Don't tarnish ESEA, it was just one dodgy person :)

of course it was well the BBC got a hold of it now. Ipkanne the owner of ESEA treated it all like a joke said they did it for april fools I'm sorry but I don't buy it.

They make plenty of cash off subs to the client (yes people pay to have a client mine their pc's...) and then they pay to forma team, and pay to join a league.

anyway it's a heads up for anyone using the client.

Also a year ago ipkane said a joke about using the client to mine btc........ They got a fall guy (who won't get fired as no one will know he's still coding for them or not since it's the internet) Pretty horrendous all round and I feel sorry for Torbull as he's tried very hard to make ESEA ok in europe.....

I literally have no idea what the hell this is all about lol. Im getting too old for this new age lingo.

Bitcoins? Mining? Cryptographic Hashes?.....>head explodes.

Man wants 99p for a flake ice cream, I give man 99 physical penny coins.
Enjoys ice cream.

Anything other than that boggles my mind.
