Warning! Incoming rant about supermarket security!

As others have said I think it's good to see that their security are not just sitting on the butts doing nothing. When I did work experience in Woolworths last year some guy took an iPod from the display case (someone forgot to lock) and walked out with it! The security guard done nothing even when someone shouted "He just stole an iPod!" If you're annoyed about it I think you should just change store :) Maybe become friendly with staff to build up trust? Why not say to him when he follows you and show him it's just your MP4 player?

just dont go in there with the archos. simple. listening to music when shopping? not the best thing to do tbh. or just get an ipod :p

Lol what do you want him to do? Play a hero and get stabbed or knocked out by the thief? Im sure the pay is not worth it.... :p

I wouldn't worry about it too much. It happens to me all the time due to an accident I had with an open cupboard when I was 4. Left a rather large scar on my chin/throat, and looks pretty steriotypical to something you'd see in a gangster film. I get told "its not on tonight" when I go to clubs, and police pull over to ask me if I'm ok when I walk home.
Pics please.

You expect them to take a punch/knife to the chest for minimum wage and someone else's iPod?

The person just walked out the door, the security guard was standing by the door. He is payed to catch thiefs! It doesn't matter how much he's payed, it's like saying nurses shouldn't save lives because they're not paid enough.

Please. Shop security are paid to be a visual detterent so as to discourage shop-lifting and NOT catch them. Exception only when they have been trained to do so - e.g Handling and restraint method. First aid and what not.

Please. So you're saying he shouldn't have even tried to stop him? Closing the doors? He was just walking out the shop not running it wouldn't have been hard to just close the doors to block him in.

Im saying we dont know the circumstances - Big shop lifter, looking intimidating and running towards a Small build bloke who just want to make money and go home? Could it be that the security guard didnt understand what was going on even thought it might appear to be so?

All in all, he did the right thing - He lived to make another minimum wage :p

I think we'll have to agree to disagree tbh :)

Get a new mp3 player or a new coat!

A student walked over to me in Jackson's once and asked me where the sandwhiches were. I didn't have the heart to say that I didn't actually work there.

Really? The security seem to be doing quite a good job along out high street :S

They got rid of some drug scum that came in trying to return a jacket they stolen today.
