Hello guys,

Right I've only had my GTX 260 for a couple of months but because of it's size, it's a little warped now due to it's own weight.
What are the consequence's of having a warped card?

cheers

sure you've secured it properly? Thinking specifically about screws/fixings at the back of the case..

Assuming it works ok then..touch wood there'll be no problem. But i'd look into securing it a bit better if possible :)

It's in and with all support it can get at standard, screwed in etc. It's working perfectly. I've lay down my computer now so it isn't feeling the force of mavity on it's back.

I saw a nice way to support the GFX card is the case central threads, use a stick. I'll wait until I get my new build before making a permanent changes to help support it.

Hmmm that's weird, I have 8 x GTX260's (for folding) and none of them have warped?!

What do you mean by its warped anyway, the PCB looks bent? Is it a normal reference size twin slot card or one of the newer single slot ones?

Does it have the stock cooler, or aftermarket? If it's the stock cooler it should have a plate (the RAM/VRM cooling plate) that should prevent any warping.

That is the exact model I have.

Where the power sockets are, the PCB has warped downwards from there. Only slightly, it's not much. It's the normal twin slot card with the stock cooler.

Ah that would explain it then, its not a reference cooler and so the board isn't re-enforced by the cooler, I would try and prop it up with something then bud

End of the day if its working fine then there's no real problem but if the warping gets more excessive then it could break, can you take a pic of how it looks in the case?

I've had a 1900XTX with an aftermarket thermalright heatsink in my parents pc for about 2yrs now with very noticeable bowing in the middle, not one issue. I'd be worried about broken traces/solder a long time before the PCB actually breaks.

Yeah I did wonder about the solders Justintime, that's what worries me the most. It may shorten the life of the damn thing.
What I've done I've lay my computer down until I order my new rig, that way I can make a more permanent solution to the problem once I know I'll be settle with the new rig. Laying the computer down takes up way too much room! lol

I'll put up a picture once I get in from work.

Cheers for the help guys.
