Warrenty not valid?

Agreed. It sucks.

If the manufacturer warrants the product to be free of defects for 3 years, then why does it matter who the current owner is and where they bought it from? Either the item is under 3 years old and has a fault, or it is not.

Because once it's outside of the authorised dealer network who sign up to various terms regarding storage handling transport etc, they have no idea what's been done to it so it could be your fault due to miss handling

Grey import can mean that it was manufactured for a region/country which isnt the UK.
Unless it's a case of "Why has my 120V product blown up when I plugged it into a UK mains socket", I'm not sure why this matter?

Because once it's been given to the shambolic courier services, they have no idea what's been done to it so it could be your fault due to miss handling

;)

The manufacturer doesn't have to do anything for you, its the reseller you should deal with.

Of course many manufacturers WILL deal with end users, but of course they may have internal policies etc which means soemtimes they wont help you.

This is the part that confuse me. Most of the problems with warranties on grey/parallel imports are from manufacturers that handle warranty and repairs themselves - cameras, lenses, laptops, drives etc.
