just a quick question,

as i came out of morrisons the road split into 3 lanes (well 4 as one was a cycle lane) (this was in manchester, whitefield. not jarrow or sunderland if your reading where im from)

to turn left was the first lane, then a cycle lane, then 2 lanes to go straight on and turn right.

i wanted to turn left but the space there could only fit 1 car in, i could have stopped and waited on the cycle lane but insted i sat in the lane to go straight ahead and indicated left, so if any bikes did come down i wouldnt be blocking them, as i was waiting some guy flew down the cycle lane so i arched out abit to show i wanted to go left, he threw his anchors. so im still in the lane to go straight ahead but slighty pulled over and hes stopped in the cycle lane calling me a *banker*. the woman next to him i could swear she said (looking at her lips) "you (to him) were in the right, *pointed to me* and said he was wrong" and shook her head

so after that horrific description you just read. should i have infact blocked the cycle lane or done what i did?

no one was hurt and im not insulted or embarrased so without digging out the old highway code. what would you do simply?

But you surely saw that single car in the left lane and you could have easily just waited until that car moved off before you pulled out, no?

if i had pulled up behind the single car at the lights i would be blocking the cycle lane, the guy behind me was driving up the cycle lane

if i had pulled up behind the single car at the lights i would be blocking the cycle lane, the guy behind me was driving up the cycle lane and half the lane i was in.

:o

I said, when the person in the left lane MOVED OFF (ie. the lights turned green), you could have pulled out.

oh right. yea but the lights were on red for this encounter. soon as it turned green obviously i pulled over and drove off as normal

So wait until the idiot is past, don't make a move that means he'll have to stop.

Let someone get caught/cause an accident elsewhere, don't be the one to cause the accident.

Nevermind, couldn't see clearly. Still doesn't seem like there was enough room in the cycle lane for someone to drive down it.

yea i dunno how he done it tbh, maybe had 2 wheels on the path, not sure. next time im there ill take a photo and post it

How did you get an angle all the way over that side of the road? :p

As for the topic, he was being a bit of a belmer by going over the cycle lane to pull up where there is no room but starting to pull out on him wasnt a great idea :/

you arched out ?????????????? that means what? you let the car lurch forward while lights were on red and he thought u was going to pull out on him as he was going past? if you were sat still i cant see why he would have a problem ?

if i was going left id have sat behind the black car with both my left wheels on the edge of the green lane and indicated left and waited for green light.
