Perhaps I have been 'spoilt' by my Logitech K200 - it seems to have everything I want, such as low profile, soft and very quiet keys, multimedia keys, UK layout, non-RGB and a respectable price of around £10 when I bought it about 8 years ago. Sadly it's show it's age, such as fading keys and becoming a little noisy. It'd be easy for me to just buy a K120, but it doesn't have multimedia keys.
Ultimately mate it’s whatever works for you. I don’t think you’re spoilt, you just know exactly what you want. Peripherals are really important, they’re the only thing connecting you to your machine, and can completely change the experience. Some people might think I’m mad for the money I spent on my G Pro wireless and PowerPlay mat, but it’s honestly the best money I’ve ever spent on peripherals. I recently tried my old favourite, the MX Master, and it felt awful in my hand by comparison.
I assume your keyboard is a membrane style? I used to love mine but after transitioning to mechanical, they feel absolutely awful. But I can still see the appeal. No loud clacking, squishy feel, comfy and quiet with all the keys you need.
Do you think you might be happier with some of the more budget options? Or maybe some of those ‘hybrid’ mechanicals which have a mechanical switch and a membrane? You really should have zero issues with finding UK layouts, but if you’re going for the more expensive styles I do think something with a membrane like feel may be more your speed.
I really couldn’t recommend my K79 enough; best keyboard I ever owned, and looking at the mk2 I really want it. But from reading your posts, I’m not sure you’d like it all. Multimedia keys are great, layout is great. But soft, quiet and low profile it is not.
Maybe pickup a more budget oriented Logitech? Or look into the hybrid styles.
