I was really disappointed

I did a speed test and it was half as slow as H+ a few meters away

Granted the LTE signal was half that of H+ but I didn't expect worse by half
I get better speeds than what I got on LTE with H+ at same signal strength

Whenever I've been on it the upload has been an improvement but the download is normally terrible or just as good as H+

Yeah it just means your location at the time may not be fully 4G enabled...

No mention of device, no mention of location, no mention of actual speeds achieved. Exactly what are we supposed to gain from this?

I just expected LTE to be generally better than H+ in the same location.

I guess it makes sense LTE at edge of its range is worse than H+ but just means it isn't at all that exciting for me as it stands.. At least the high frequency band
But I do find H+ always better than H at any given location. Even if I am scraping at it.
I don't know if LTE works differently fundamentally though

If you expected LTE to be way better in low strength areas then you've not seen EE's speeds yet :p

"Fastest 4G network in the country" my butt.

It's quite good here in Portsmouth, usually hovering around the 8-15Mbit mark down but some days it's great even indoors: http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/941411003 <-- That's with 2 bars signal too.

Is this something where 4G really suffers for some reason? As in shrinkage? Or is it just too new that it isn't full throttle yet?

Either way.. I absolutely wouldn't pay extra for it

Different areas have different levels of 4G signal. HSPA/DC-HSPA has beena round long enough to be established throughout the country now and will deliver good download speeds indoors and out. 4G is still growing and where reception is strong it will deliver much better latency and download/upload speeds vs HSPA.

Next year EE and 3 will be sharing 4G masts so expect 4G speeds to be greater all over the place.

Cant complain here http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/941988951

Centre of the small town centre where I live get upto 45mb download too, that speed test is indoors, im amazed at the upload speed, my home line is 18mb down and 1.4mb up

I'd love a mobile connection like that  I'll be getting a 12 month SIM Only on 3 in a few weeks, so it'll be interesting to see what I get in my neck of the woods?

No speed issues here.

It's the upload that's most attractive to me.

Too many regular broadband suppliers cripple upstream bandwidth in favour of high downstream rates. Hence I find even 3g to be better than most wifi networks when uploading images and the like.

Not if you're on three. Unlimited 4G for the same price. I'm paying £18 a month on a one month rolling contract with unlimited 4G data.

I was referring to post above mine in the USA!

Never really that fussed about upload.
Only things I upload are pictures to flickr
