Was Snake Eater any good?

I'm a big fan of the franchise, but the fates conspired to keep me away from MGS3. Did I miss anything? Should I be running out to the shops shouting '0mgIneedsnaaake!'?

No you haven't missed anything. I say that because the game is still in the shops. Go buy it now. You won't regret it. Personally I think it's better than MGS2 and it adds a lot to the story. Maybe you might want to wait until Subsistence is out so you get all the extras (including the original two MG games, in all their 8bit glory).

Definitely worth getting. I don't know whether I like MGS2 or MGS3 better, there's not a lot in it IMO.

Subsistence also comes with online play so it depends whether you want to grab a cheap copy of MGS3 or wait for the new features.

subsistence also comes with a different camera angle.
I have snake eater, fantastic game. Gonna buy subsistence too though, just need to decide if i should import it

Its defo worth getting!!! i think its better than MGS2 but as PSYK id wait for the updated version i think its next month!
Im about halfway through mine but ive not played it for 2 weeks so all the food ive got will have died and rotted ha ha ha!

definatly a must have for any supa-mullet snake fan

never really liked the second one too much with camp raiden, but snake eater is def on par with the first one on the PSX (my fav)

If you enjoy MGS then i think you'll enjoy Snake Eater. Go buy.

I'd definitely wait for Subsistence from what I've read (IGN gave it 9.8). The additions sound really good, and the multiplayer is excellent apparently.

Out of the metal gear solids I'd rate it higher than MGS2 but its not as good as MGS1. Still a great game, I'd probably be cheap and buy a second hand copy now Otacon rather than pay full price for Subsistence unless you really like the look of the extras.

I would say this is a lot better than MSG2 in story line and where it takes place.

As in MSG2 its all in buildings etc.. etc..

In Snake Eater you are inside buildings and jungle which add a lot more to the gameplay than sneaking around corners as you can climb tree's hide behide log in logs rocks etc...

The story line is spot on and add more depth to what MGS1 was as MSG2 to me seemed to stray away from the story.

I would say MGS1 on PS1 and MGS3 have to be my favourites MSG2 was good just did'nt stand out like 1 and 3 for me.

I would definately recommend going out and buying new or getting a cheap second hand MSG3: snake eatter as you wont go wrong for the money.

I personally didn't enjoy MGS3 although I really liked the first one and couldn't get into the jungle atmosphere of the third game. Never played the second so I Can't comment on it.
