Well i am a bit shaken today.

Was in a rush to get to work, and like a fool i put my foot down.

I was leaving a 50 zone that enters a 30 zone, But this 30 zone has a good .5miles before it actually needs to be a 30 zone. (but who am i to say this)

SO I'm doing 50+ in this small 30 zone and 3 YES THREE Police Bikers shoot up my arse with lights flashing telling me to pull over.

So i am sitting there crapping myself knowing that full well that this is an offence that can have me stripped of my licence.

One of them comes to the door, Askes me to unlock it so i do, He hunches down and starts talking, Obviously i can tell this chap is not best pleased with me by his tone and body language. So im thinking oh crap, oh crap.

He tells me off, Asks how long i have been driving and then tells me if i had been driving for 2 years i would no longer have a licence.
Asks me where i am going so i said to work, miles away.

Gives me some advice... Then tells me to slow down, be safe and be on my way.

THANK YOU POLICE MEN!

Anyone else had a good telling off?

Plenty, usually on my bike, being an old fart helps ;)
Learn from it and be grateful all you go was a rollocking :)

I have in the past - I push my luck less these days - though I still have the occasional affliction for the loud pedal to be abused. Generally if you're a decent person and are willing to accept that you are in the wrong, don't answer back, are humble and apologetic and genuine, they will often (not always) use their discretion.

As I get older I get pulled over less - other than at Christmas where without fail I will be pulled over for a random breathalyser check!

PHEW!!! I was reading this and thought, 'uh oh, there a fine and points coming your way FOR SURE'.
Please to hear that you didn't get done mate, although 50 in a 30 does sounds pretty bad, but if the road is like you say (and I know many like that myself) then sounds like it wasn't as bad as the facts say.
I've not received a telling off before, but have been stopped by the police when I was driving home late one night after visiting a friend. They just wanted to know where I'd been and what I was doing out so late etc. They were very pleasant and sent me on by way, I think they were trying to catch drunk drivers to be honest.

Happened to me once, about 4 years ago.

I was going 50 in a 30 and being followed by an unmarked Skoda VRS. Me and the wife were in a heated debate about family and our recently passed daughter which obviously didnt help the situation.

Luckily I only got a £60 fine and 3 points - which have now expired. I'm now more careful when driving, but 1 offence in 7 years isn't something I'm going to kick myself over.

That's nothing I have a good fictional story that I have made up just now.

Brother and I sat in the car. Completely deserted motorway after a slip road with a perfect straight. Brother puts his foot down and we're doing 125mph. Que a 535d comes right up his tail and slips on the blue lights. Pull over onto hard shoulder. Police chap comes over and says, doing those speeds you'd lose your license and left.

If this happens and there's no obvious place to pull-over, what do you do? Just stop in the road/carriageway or carry on driving for a bit?

You are not obligated to pull over immediately. You keep going until its safe to pull over.

You stop where and when it's safe to stop, obviously. Although the police generally won't indicate for you to stop until they believe there's a safe place for you to do so anyway. You don't just stop dead in a live lane.

I got pulled over by armed police, the guy ran over swore at me a few times then told me it was lucky I was on the way to a job. I did pull an overtake which probably wasn't the brightest idea so it was probably fair. It was quite scary seeing some guy with a machine gun run toward me in my wing mirror.

I was stopped by the police because i approached the rear of an unmarked copper at around 100 on my bike. He was trying to catch another guy and ended up pulling us both over. Just got a slap on the wrist essentially.

I would flash my hazards or something to indicate that I've acknowledged them, and stop at the earliest safe opportunity. You don't just stop there and then :p

When I got stopped (and ticketed) for doing 68 in a 50, they were up behind me flashing as I was entering the slip road for a large busy roundabout, so I carried on and took the first exit and found somewhere to stop.

Happened many a time when I was younger delivering pizzas. I feel genuinely lucky to have 0 points on my liscence, as I got caught doing some silly speeds.

OP

Probably the reason you did not get booked as they did not have a calibrated speedo, as doing 50 in a 30 always means a poker up your rear!!1

Still a kicking is better than 3-6 points
