Hi there,

I have a washing machine with several options on it and I have no idea which one to choose to wash my clothes.

I know that you need different settings for whites and for colours but other than that I have no idea.

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to what settings I use for white shirts and then colours (all other clothes)

Thanks....

suppose to us a high degree setting for whites e.g. 60 or more depending on if they or delicate or not. But normally 40 degrees is sufficent enough for colours and is economical. :)

I can't do anything by putting it on the wrong settings could i?

I just put my colours in at 50*C under colour synthetics <-----now that was just a guess i have no idea what that means

Too hot and you can ruin colors, ruin patterns or in worst case melt the clothes themselves... I tend to wash everything at 40 just in case after ruining a few t-shirts at 60.

It means your going to have to go on a diet.

I was everything at 40C, seems to do the job, all my clothes come out clean:) If an item of clothing has a particularly stuborn stain rub some vanish into it before washing.

Colours at 40oC

Whites at 60oC

If you use good washing powder etc, you can get whites just as clean around 40oC

I bung everything in together (coloured and whites) at 40 degrees, as long as things have been washed once the colours wont run. You only really need to do clothes at a higher temperature if they are filthy or for babies stuff if you ask me.. day to day washing I really can't see why you'd need to boil it..

LOL the instructions are all written in woman!

I have the same proble, bloody tecno-wizard and I can't get my head round the washing machine. :p

So bad infact I go to the launderette cos the machines have "high" and "go".

Depends on the material they're made from but its a distinct possibility.

BTW next time read the label!!! And don't wash clothes above the temp listed.

as long as things have been washed once the colours wont run.

It's generic for men. I too use D :D If washing at 90 remember to add the proverbial red sock to your white wash, if there is no woman in your life you will notice a strange phenomena where all your socks are in pairs again! ;)

Good point about bio powder

This uses Enzymes to clean the clothes - above 40 degrees these are useless. Don't wash with bio above 40 for this reason!

I just stick everything on 40 with Ariel Bio and it's all clean. Seperate colours and whites otherwise the colours can run and stain the white clothes
