Washing machine electric shock!

Hmm, the op hasnt replied. Maybe he discovered the hard way that poking electric circuits with a fork isn't a good idea.

I'm still alive :)

The socket the washine machine was plugged into is ****** though. there are black marks all over the live area, so I will have to replace this to be fair.

I've got the washing machine in bits at the moment, but dont know what I'm really looking at, all the connections are pushed home, so to speak.

Where should I be looking please washing machine wizards?

Thanks :)

Jon

You could not of chosen a tougher machine to try and fix yourself. The top comes off via two 7mm bolts at the rear top, after that you will need some skills as theres no rear panel, the cabinet splits in half after you remove about ten 8mm bolts, two are concealed behind plugs on the side bottom of cabinet. Take the rear half off as its miles easier than the front.

:D I've got to this bit, now what lol :D

Thanks,

Jon :)

Personally I wouldn't **** about where electricity is concerned. You clearly don't have a clue how to fix it yourself so put it back together and call a proper repair guy. You'll probably knacker it even more and maybe put yourself in danger at the same time. Yes it sucks paying what'll no doubt be a fairly high charge, but it's better to just accept that instead of finding out what could happen.

why dont you just phone the manufacturer? in my experience when a washing machine goes wrong its because a part inside has failed.

on my last washer we just took out insurance with the manufacturer because every few months it would break lol.

then my wife brought a brandnew washing machine that failed after 2 weeks because there was a known dodgy batch of circuit boards

then the stupid locking mechanism on the door wouldnt engage, then the same thing happened again...

i swear washing machines are built to fail!

I'd agree with that too - especially the modern stuff. I have a 15-yo Zanussi and save for my own version of an earth fault (which wasn't the fault of the machine), it's behaved impeccably. Not looking forward to the day I have to replace it. :(
