Washing machine jokes at the ready

When I first seen the pic I thought "o...m....g.... why?!" then I read it was like £10k and I was like

but tbh its kinda grown on me now looks wise and the OP seems like he knows whats hes doing :)

those seats look like they have absolutely no support. i presume they're actually quite comfortable?

A little lacking in lumbar but otherwise pretty good. I'd be happy to drive for many hours. That said, I'm the kind of person who thinks the Caterham has the most comfortable driving position ever (seriously).

Regarding the cost, remember it was 'just' £8500 ish after scrappage, so a bit less scary :)

RockLobster: a/s/l?

Edit - more pictures, here's the 'boot' with the seats up and also the rear seating arrangement:

I think there are actually quite funky looking for a small car. Definitely white or bright red would be the colours to have for me.

It rather embarrasses me that you managed to get a 32" TV easily in that thing...

The reason being is because I couldn't get exactly the same TV into my E46 320i without taking it out of the box. The boot of the E46 is probably bigger than the Q with the back seats down from what I can remember.

I'll Never look at a Caterham driver the same again. :(
God man what was you thinking, Eight & a half grand to look like Noddy. :(

I think for London these cars are great or any small towns - wouldn't really want to drive one for prolonged periods of time on the motorway though. However I think they're pretty cool/funky, and would choose those over a Smart.

It's a good idea as you've got the caterham for the fun weekend/evening toy and something sensible as a run about.

Don't see anything wrong with that tbh. :)

Exactly! I quite like them and the way they have kicked the smart cars in the short and curlies.

One of them going around here with limo tint windows including the front sides and not usually a fan but it looks menacing for such a tiny car.:D

I'm not a fan overall as I dislike cars this small.

However if I was after a car this size i'd certainly have one over the Smart, they're fairly cute looking things and I like the idea of having four seats or two + boot.

what happens to the car when its rear ended by a volvo?

I assume anyone in back seats is dead on impact?

Car looks fun tho, though id take the 7 anyday.

Looks a bit puny..... SLAM it on some 18inch spits :D

I actually think it's kind of cute. Great for a guy to give off that gay look to make the girls feel safe, thus they become your friends and like to hang around you all the time wearing nigh on nothing and snuggling up to you. Then you smash their pasty with the fury of the caterham !!!!!!!!!

I don't understand why they have back seats. Just make it a two seater. At least that way you get a boot. There's no way anyone could fit in the back there is literally no room for knees or legs.

I agree they look pretty good. Still think 8.5 is way to much for such a car. They should knock the price down to say 4-5k.

TBH its more like a 3 seater.

We had one in the studio at work as it has some rather nice approaches to vehicle packaging, the diff infront of the engine for example with frees up space for row 1 footwells. It has to be the shortest bonnet ever. More like a piano lid. :p

If the passenger pulls the seat right forward you can still sit comfy and theres then room behind for a adult occupant. The trim is certainly at the higher end of the segment, way above stuff like the Aygo which is why the price is higher even though both belong in a similar sector. I can see why Aston would go with something like that.

Ill be interested to see how you get on with economy. Mine is exactly the same power output from the petrol lump.

I really want to insult you for buying one but for some reason I actually like these.

I wish there was some logical reason as to why I like these but there isn't, I just do.

I hope I wasn't the only person to see people in those seats? :p

They do look mighty uncomfortable, how are they?

But these do look nice little cars, maybe I wouldn't own one myself but seeing as you have a Caterham as your second car it improves your man-factor...

There are curtain rear air bags which go some way to protecting rear passengers, but obviously there's very little crumple zone in the back so it's probably not the safest place to be.

Actually not bad. They're not Recaros but they are comfy despite how thin the backs are. They lack a little in the lumbar department but I could do a day of driving without any trouble.

I definitely wouldn't have one as my only car, it's too bloody slow. And small. But as I said before, for me right now it's a great second car :)

Regarding the price/quality, Jonnycoupe has it spot on really. If they dropped the price to even Aygo levels they would either produce it at a loss or sacrifice quality somewhere. I still think that at £8,500 it's good value - you can buy an Aygo for that or a very basic Ka but neither come anywhere close to the quality. If I would have had to pay the full £10,500 though I suspect I'd have bought something else.

The iQ was originally intended to be sold as a Lexus. That speaks for itself.
