Sometimes my computer sounds like it has a wasp stuck in it...

i can sometimes hear a faint buzz (squealing) sort of sound... this is just occasional though...and i aint a clue what it is....?!

nothing to do with the fans, so im really confused.... anyone have ANY idea what it could be?

p.s. there is no insect in the pc

One of the internal cables rattling against a fan?

Accumulation of dust in some of the fans?

Vibration of the entire case caused by hard drives and fans?

it deffo no the hdd..

could be dust... there is a bit of dust on the cpu heatsink.. in between the grill bit

dont think its the wirse.. i have no wires against fans, or over them

vibration was my first thought as well, reseat the HDDs/Opticals/fans see if it makes any difference.

could it just be a noisy HDD being accessed ?

hmm... ill try reseating the hdd and getting rid of some dust. will post back tomorrow... cheers. bit tired at moment, had a few cans, shouldnt really try anything in this state

I had the same sorta thing try looking at ** psu and see if maybe its a lose wire their that was what was ahpping to mine :
Happy cleaning ;)

could it be ** cd/dvd drive spinning?

would have said a dodgy cap but thats ussualy a hissing more than a buzzing

When do you hear the 'squeal' under load or any time? I occasionally hear a short squeal whne clicking certain things while gaming.

Could the PSU fans warming up - turn the machine off, push something against one of the fan blades to stop it turning, and see if it buzzes.

Mine makes a werid buzzing noise wen i use my USB ports for certain things such as bluetooth or my web cam lol
Any ideas on that one guys?

Had the same sort of noise, the fan on the graphics card had come loose, so I tightened the screws up & no noise.

found it out...

2 screws hold the hdd in place.. each have rubber washers around them... one of them was hanging off... therefore the hdd was just touching the metal casing where the actual hdd goes... so when in operation it vibrated against the metal..

fixed now :p

plus i didnt know i could reduce my cpu heatsink from 2000rpm to 1700rpm

very quiet now :p
