Wasps nest in the attic

That doesn't sound good at all :/ I went into the loft a few days ago and there were none flying around in it, I can only assume that they are just using the entrance/exit that is physically outside. Meh.
 
Frightening stuff to remove them. I had to do shift a hornets nest and I am petrified by them. I crept in to the loft and placed a polythen bag over the hive and threw it in the bin.
 
If you leave them be they will die in autumn and never come back. Wasps don't re-use locations for their nests. Otherwise you need few cans of wasp nest spray from Wilkinson store, bike helmet, thick overalls and iron nerves. Spray the nest late in the evening, when they're asleep and they'll be dead by the morning.

Alternatively your local council has environmental dept dealing with those kind of things at a cost of approx £40.

I literally just dealt with wasp nest in my garage today. They built nest in empty LG microwave box using handle holes on the sides as guarded entry. Quite peculiar construction involving building layers around styrofoam padding inside the box...
 
I remember long time ago there was an unused partially open wall socket panel in our home and apparently somehow large number of wasps managed to make it their home. My brother got bitten by wasps and it was painful. What we did was to fire up news paper pieces and then we quickly placed them in the socket and then closed it. Luckily almost all the wasps died due to heavy thick smoke and heat.

Had a stream of wasps into my bedroom recently, and woke up the other day with 2 of the ******* crawling down my back, stinging me. Horrid way to wake up!

My mum suggested that there might be a nest or something outside... so we took a look and there appear to be two! They are getting in through a loose slab on the roof above my room, then flying in when the bedroom windows are open. Just had a read through this thread, and someone mentioned them eating through wood... I'm a bit worried about that.

Suggested plan of action?

Also, after dealing with those wasps on my back, one flew over to my finger and proceeded to STABSTABSTAB there. Pulled it off with a bit of tissue but they have some grip! It shot some white stuff (harhar) over my finger but it seems to be okay now.

Not happy.

Current killcount is 6.
 
Pretty sure the council removed a wasps nest from my neighbours house for free. It was a few years ago but might be worth checking out.

Best bet is to call an exterminator. We've got them in our attic. There's loads, but they're not causing any harm. Once the winter is here, I'll climb up and get rid of the nest.

Are their hornets in the UK? Because a week back a huge wasp/hornet thing was in our house. I killed it, but damn it was huge.

Obviously all wasps die out, except young queens that go into hibernation somewhere. However, I've seen plenty of wasps use the same spot over the years, obviously they make a new nest, they don't reuse them.

I'd agree though that if you don't get a professional, the best course of action is to cover yourself in thick clothing and protect your face. Then use the wasp nest destroyer foam... it literally melts the nest and kills them all, works really well.

Just need to be careful when you do it. Wasps get more aggressive at the end of summer/early autumn because of all the fermented fruit they feed on. I'd say the best time to get them, now that we are in Autumn would be early in the morning. We've had frost recently and it can be pretty cold which will have them pretty slow and lethargic that early. Obviously it won't be much longer until they die off anyway.
 
Cover yourself in a thick layer of honey, this will prevent them from seeing your body heat.

Then simply run in, rip the nest out and drop kick that mother through the front door

Slap your willy about the nest. They're intimitated by loud high pitch noises. So maybe imitate and sing a Cheryl Cole song to fend them off and defeat them mentally.
