We had new double glazing fitted throughout a while back and the ballbag (long story) who fitted it managed to leave a large hole underneath the door sill which we spotted some wasps going in about a week or so ago, my wifes brother came down and said he'd sorted it out, apparently he'd plugged the hole with bathroom sealant "to stop them getting in", I wondered about the plight of the wasps already in the nest that could get out but this morning I wondered no more, the front windowsill is littered with dead/dying wasps where they've managed to find another hole to get into the house. I phoned the council, they don't have anything to do with pest control anymore and the 3 people I found in the yellow pages, 2 are the same bloke who I can't get hold of and the others too busy.
Unfortunately I'm "hypersensitized" to wasp stings and my wife being a couple of months pregnant isn't pleased about coming home to a house infested with wasps so any sensible suggestions (not involving fire or ovaries) would be great. I'm thinking of getting the sealant scraped out as I'd rather have them outside than in and just waiting for the autumn when they die/move elsewhere (I read that wasps never return to the same nest the following year).
