Hi guys,

So today my parents the best in the world bought me an omega 007 50th anniversary watch!! Such a thoughtful gift as SkyFall was the first film I got credit on.

So now I am looking to insure it obviously. Do you guys use anything other than house insurance to cover your valuable watches?

Typically you will have single items covered up to a value and anything over that will need to be stated on the insurance.

My Omega (of a similar value to yours) is covered under my Home Contents Insurance for loss, theft and accidental damage with like for like replacement for no additional cost. Check your policy as it depends on your individual item policy limits.

Watch insurance can be pretty expensive though, so I would recommend going through your contents insurance even if it means upping your policies limits.

£3k.

I doubt most household insurance has single item values that high.

Mine does, although it also has higher than average 'sum insured' and the maximum single item value reflects that. All you do is negotiate the maximums that you need on the item or items that you require. In my case all I had to do was specify which items had a value above £3000 and/or were to be insured outside of the home as well.....there was no change in my premium. A separate insurance for my watch was more than my entire contents insurance policy cost.

My watches are on my contents and similar value but I had them declared at the start of the policy. I'm sure they'll add additional cost for adding them mid term just because they can

OT... I had the pleasure to go to a lecture and meet Terry Bamber (second unit director/assistant director) at Derby Uni a couple if weeks ago. Really sound bloke, very down to earth and has a great passion/caring for the industry :)

My Omega is covered by our home insurance. On a previous policy our watches had to be added as separate items and the extra cover was pricey.

He is a lovely man, crazy, but a lovely guy! Always at the gym to even with the long hours! His wife is in the industry to.

Thanks guys ill check with my house insurance

I have my breitling as a specified item on my home contents insurance, with away from home and accidental damage cover.

Cost hardly anything extra to add it.

What did you do for the film Stinky? I guess security as i think i remember you mentioning before that was you worked in.

Forgive my ignorance but what does that mean? Aside from working on 'location' what do you do there mate?
