Watch out for parked builders vans...

on my way to work earlier in the week i passed an unmarked white transit that was quite clearly a scamera van, the 3 or 4 police bikes 100 yards down the road pulling people over also helped give it away

sneaky sneaky

I've seen a couple of stealth vans lately. They hide nicely behind bushes/in really well hidden corners.

I guess they are not meeting their targets or upping the charity fund raising?

That makes sence, but this isn't about safety, it's about profit.

But if drivers know that any speed cameras will be clearly marked, there's no incentive to drive to the limits 99% of the time as they know that no cameras are near.

I don't want to start some massive speed camera debate and I'm not defending their use, just thinking that profit might not be the only motivation here.

I pulled up tight behind just such a van in my Artic a few days ago, I ws very surprised to find a Copper asking me to move as I was blocking his view.

I told him to get a Traffic Cop who understood Tachograph regulations to explain to him why I would not move for a minimum of 45 minutes (mandatory break) the Copper himself did not realise that he had the power to move me anyway!

I sat there for my 45 minutes and saved many a speeding child killer.......

It was similar to the van in the link, I was just outside Lichfield on the A38.

One thing i noticed while out in between wales and glouscester the other day was instead of a square fixed yellow speed camera they had a circluar shaped one  i got to admit it confused me at first to wheather it was a camera or not but then i saw the lines on the road and when i went past it I could see it was a camera.

Thats the first time i've seen any other shape speed camera, so just seems they are mixing things up as people are used to the big old yellow box's and know to keep an eye out for that shape and color, just seems very cheeky / sneaky thing to do especialy having mobile speed camera's in unmarked or disguisted vehicles, although if they are disguisted then it would prevent people from slamming on the brakes and maybe having an accident if they was speeding like I saw in a video posted not so long ago on these forums.
