Watch Question

I have a ted baker watch that my sister got me for my 18th. Last week it stopped after a bloc party gig, i thought it must just be a battery as its over a year old, coming up to 2. Took it to the jewlers, however they changed the battery and said this was not the fault, it needs cleaning :confused:

I would have thought that watches will be sealed (It is water proof) and therefore the internals could not get dust etc into them. Anybody who is a watch guru who can shed some light on this, i would be very grateful

Watches have oil, oil dries out. Movement needs servicing.

As feek says they do dry up though it would be poor at that age

Even if it needs a new movement this shouldn't be an expensive job

Cheers, was quoted £22 which aint too bad. Just seemed strange for it needing to be done.

afaik all ted baker watches are quartz,if its knackered after a few years and they have asked for £22 its just to get the movement replaced (thats probably what they are doing anyway) ,a quartz watch costs more to clean than replace.
