The hosepipe ban will apply to watering plants and car washing at residential addresses but there will be no restrictions on using a hose to fill up a swimming pool or hot tub or at commercial car washes.

Which means no pressure washers :(

But seriously, think about it, a pressure washer is connected to your hose, why would it be any different?

It's a total joke anyway. I expect more water is lost each year through leaking pipes than though peopel using hose pipes.

Tempted to drive the car round the back of the house where nobody can see and use the hose anyway.

We aren't having a ban where I am :p IIRC, there were certian things excluded from the ban like filling paddling pools etc. Just found this though:

Can I wash my car using a hosepipe?

No, the ban restricts the washing of private motorcars with hosepipes.

N.B. You may still use a bucket.

So I guess that would include disallowing the use of a pressure washer although I can't understand why you would want to use a pressure washer to clean your car anyway :D

Easier, faster and makes the car cleaner. You just ask anyone who uses one.

I've got to wash the company cars, can I use the jet washer?

I'll do mine if I'm allowed. Sod using a bucket and sponge!

See the link I posted above. Looks like you'll be getting the bucket out :p

That's residential though, this is business.

I'll just do the insides if it's a bucket job!

Along with taking the paint off and scratching it ;)

Nah, not at all. That will happen if you have a bad paint job with scratches and exposing laquor (Spelling??). I honestly dont see how pressure washer takes your paint work off. If anything, if is good for removing those sturbon stains, mud, grit, bird poo and good for the wheel arches too.

Its true, i have been working at a house in East London that has had a water leak outside for over a year, this leak could fill a 2 litre bottle in a couple of minutes, so imagine how much water has been lost

525,600 litres? :D

Am I the only person who still finds it ridiculous that we as a country are having water shortages when we're a small island surrounded by sea and an ocean?

Same here, but what can you do? In my case, i am tempted to use the pressure washer but im not gonna give those who dont have nothing better to do, the chance to call the cops on me.

Of salty, dirty, unpotable water.

Desalination is very expensive.

If push come to shove, we will i think. Besides we waste more money on other thing anyway.

The only time you won't take the paint off is when your using a naff pressure washer and you still have to use a sponge to get the dirt off.

Decent pressure washers that heat the water are usually too powerful and will take the paint off if your not carefull. There's also added dangers of weakening trim and damaging waterproofing rubber. Also if your using it on a car with black protective rubber strips on doors and bumpers then soon get used to them looking grey.

The last thing I would use to clean my pride and joy would be a pressure washer. Maybe I would use one on the works van but never on my car at home.

Yeah 'cos we've got so much spare energy in the country to start mass-desalination!
