Water bill - Metered vs Unmetered?

We moved from 2 of us in a 2 bed terrace unmetered, to 3 of us in a 4 bed detached metered and we've planted a large hedge that gets watered every other day. Our highest metered bill has been almost as high as our regular unmetered bill used to be. In other words, metered is almost always cheaper.

the rule of thumb as I probably already said in this thread is supposed to be

if house occupants lower or equal to # of bedrooms it should be cheaper metered.

so for example
house with double bedroom + single bedroom with 3 people living there should be cheaper metered
where as if 4 people were living their it might not be and if 5 people were living there then it almost certainly wouldn't be cheaper.

you also have to take into account
how often you wash your car/water your garden
how often the toilet is flush
how often someone has a shower/bath
how often do you use the washing machine

etc if you think it's probably more than the average household then your likely better off without a meter

Probably not relevant but mine is £12 a month, that's living on my own in 5 bedroom house, 1-2 loads of washing a week, 1 load in the dishwasher a week, shower every day and wash my car once a month.

we are 2 people in a 2 bed appartment on a meter.

2 showers a day
2 baths a week
3 washer loads a week
3-4 dishwashers a week
both toilets with a half flush thing

ours is £28 a month
