Hello all.

I have finally decided to bite the bullet and join the dark side that is water-cooling!

Ive been doing plenty of research on the net, and know the fundamentals.

I just don't know what kit I would need to cool my current setup. the items I want to water cool are a I7 bloomfield and a 6990 and 6970

might be upgrading this to ivy bridge, are there any cpu blocks that will support both?

my current case is a NZXT phantom. I more than understand there are much better cases out there for water-cooling.

I was thinking of ditching the case and going for a either the coolermaster haf X, or the Corsair 800d

I much prefer the corsair, it looks beautiful, but the lack of expansion ports worry me about its future proofing...

I was thinking of a single loop to cool the lot. I will want to overclock and keep this whole thing as quiet as possible.

As I sayd I am a newbie, and don't really know where to start. I do know Im gonna need at least a triple + dual rad, fans, pump, res, tubes, fittings, tools and blocks etc...

any advice would be greatly appreciated.

many thanks in advance

You can start by doing your research ;)

just to keep you busy for a while.

No one can really make you do things, you will have to read up and decide what you want to do with your water cooling loop.

Others may be able to spec you components but I think you are missing the point if you depend on others to make your loop.
Do some research, select your components and then ask if they are good or bad. I think that is the way to go.

thanks for the links, I shall read up.

I know what I am after, a single loop to cool the cpu and gpus.As I was saying earlier, I just don't know which brands are the best as I am new to this area of pc gaming.

I wouldn't rate either of them cases for the amount of rad surface area you need unless you're willing to mod them, a good alternative that's not too costly is the BitFenix Shinobi XL

For the pump i would either get the DDC 18w(gives more performance but normally louder) or the Laing D5(lower performance but quiter)
reservoir, tubing & fittings dont make a difference you can pick what you like the look of really.
I would stick with gentle typhoon fans at a choice of your preferred speed.(best performance to noise ratio fans)
Your choice of radiator would depends on the speed of fans you opt.
The top GPU blocks are within a few degrees e.g. EK, danger den, swiftech, xspc just get the cheapest one you can.

thankyou for the very constructive reply. This is just the info I am after.

I wasn't sure what size pump/res i would need... I was also under the impression the corsair 800d would be good enough but looking at that case, I see what you mean!

would you agree a triple + dual rad would be sufficient to cool my components?
